Favorite Shoujo Manga?
« on: July 02, 2015, 03:06:36 PM »
Well, most of us know, with the spotlight focused on the 'awesome' and 'badass' manga, such as One Piece, Bleach, Naruto, Attack On Titan (The manga we usually call 'shounen'), shoujo is given the cold shoulder. When we say shoujo to a new comer, their minds drift to Twilight. When we say shoujo to an 'one month in' guy, their minds drift to mahou shoujo and 1-10 minute transformation intervals and when we say shoujo to a know-it-all-even-though-you-don't, their minds drift to manly friendship. Manly friendships. In other words, the term 'shoujo' is rather notorious amongst otakus even though it did nothing wrong. But, once you dwelve into the term 'shoujo' you find that it's not all pretty boys and love triangles and it can get rather interesting, more interesting than Naruto. So, for those who have dwelved in this term, what is your favorite shoujo manga? Mine are:

1: Akatsuki no Yona
2: Fruits Basket
2: Gakuen Alice and
3: Kamisama Hajimemash¡ta

With a shoutout to all those romance one-shots involving a way-too-wide-eyed teenage girl and a dark haired boy   :clapping:
Hidden.

I enjoyed the first 40 chapters or so of Dengeki Daisy. I thought the dynamic between the pair was good. The age gap was a little...uncomfortable at times, however its mostly played as love out of a sense of duty, akin to a family bond for the older guy if I recall.

I also liked Ao Haru Ride too. Very predictable but enjoyable nonetheless.

Oh, not sure if it counts but I really liked GE good ending as well

My favourites are

1) Kimi ni todoke
2) Sukitte ii na yo
3) Ai*censored*eruze baby

I have seen and read too many shoujo that I am a bit sick of them and am not attracted to watch new ones anymore now but the above are too sweet to forget :3

Has anyone heard of Otomen?

Looks interesting, they are so cute, may wanna try it.

EDIT: eh, I read the synopsis, not so interested anymore...lol...I think I don't like shoujo girls/characters anymore :D

My Little Monster. It's one of the only ones I've read but I am enjoying it. I'm just buying it as it comes over here, it's currently on volume 8. Really great art style though it gets half assed some times.

I like My Little Monster too, though with the art being rushed, they can't do much about it.  The deadlines for manga are very stressful and mangakas pretty much spend no free time to themselves.  You can look up "Mangaka schedule" on google images and see the crazy hours.

Spoiler
This is one of the more crazier schedules

And this one is probably one of the more realistic ones but it is still crazy
