Some great stuff there. That girl with the airplanes legs looks like fun, and the last predator like monster looks dangerous!

Great work as usual, bud.
If you don't mind revealing trade secrets, how did you start getting commissions coming in? Did you just post a lot on Deviantart, or did you go out and search for an audience? Like, how did you advertise yourself? It seems to have worked for you with all these commissions, so I'm a little curious.

hey there! thank you! :)
well, it certainly was a struggle at the beginning. my steady job closed down so I had to freelance, anyway, I went on through a few months with barely any work at the time. at first I applied to a lot of posts in deviantart's Job Offers section. I got some work there but not a lot, only a couple of long-term projects. most people who post there are very specific. during idle times I just kept making samples just to keep my portfolio moving. eventually I posted on the Job Services section. that's where you can post your commission info and samples. I think most of my regulars now just saw my post there. I was lucky enough that they keep coming back to work with me.:)

Yessss! I love Morrigan, easily one of my favorite character designs of all time. Dark Stalkers was fantastic, keep up the good work!

lovely varied work. I like the pink dress one the most.
I think maybe you make your characters too wide around the upper body, or maybe it just needs a bit more shading as it looks a bit flat. Maybe a bit more darker dark in your shading all round would be nice, you tend to avoid the blacker darks so everything looks very light.

good to know about how your commissions got going. I too need to start doing that "at some point" :P
so you have regulars that keep coming back, huh? I never thought about that before.

yea, I need to work on that. I'm having a bit of issue with how I'd like my style to develop. I still want to maintain the anime feel to it with just a touch of realism, so I'm often stuck on picking the right palettes when shading. rendering the body with a bit more depth is actually not an issue for me but rather matching it to the face is. it's quite difficult to add too much definition to the face as it loses it's anime feel. and more often than not, it doesn't turn out good.xD so I tend to dial back the rendering on the body just to keep everything more coherent.xD
thank you for the feedback! I'll definitely keep that in mind as I do more semi-realism stuff. :)

and yes. I didn't really think they'd stick around with me. usually I just get one-off commissions. but some of them kept coming back and became regulars. been working with them for months now. :)

thats a fair point, It is hard to maintain that manga style on the face but have the body shaded more realistically. I've actually run into that myself the last week or so as I've been studying shade (finally).
keeping it coherent is definitely a good reason, and totally understandable.

yes.:) that's why I've been dabbling semi-realism recently. the struggle is real though.xD it's really hard for me to pick the right palettes and do facial definitions. one day at a time I guess.:)
