If you are having trouble coloring then you should look up shading techniques.  Instead of just shading in a random direction you can do the small circles getting a more even shading. There is also shading in the direction of the drawing meaning the angle changes based on lines around it

Another thing is think of where you light source is, it can not only create highlights in hair/eyes but also in smooth/hard material.  Also based on the light it creates shadows for the rest of the body

I used the computer to draw my profile pic.  Turns out the skin color is an EXTREMELY LIGHT orange color (or brown if you are coloring a darker person).  I don't use colored pencils but I imagine that you have to barely color the paper.  I would definitely try on normal paper first before coloring your drawings.  Another idea is just to get a skin colored pencil, pretty sure they have those

Try https://www.colorcodehex.com/html-color-picker.html if you don't believe me with a light orange

Hey boss did you know you can have ms4 brushes on ms5 ? I actually loved ms4 pro vs beginning interface though it was more intuitive. Something they shouldnt have removed in ms5 if you want my opinion but HEY! Great stuff go on i love your characters design they are too cute! Hope you draw more soon i love to Sée people's art.
