With watercolor....I don't know how thick the marker pad is, but try to use paper that is 300gs/m, that is basically thickness you need for watercolor paper, or else it'll wrinkle. If you don't have that, try taping your paper to a wooden board or something. You can use painters tape, which is pretty strong but you can also use masking tape. Good luck~
