Just watched the new ep... well, new in the sense that's it's the first time it's aired... but, it takes place during the time just before the cultural festival... of last season! So, apparently the new season has now jumped back to last season.

I can't say it was a bad episode (anything is better than the last 8 episodes), but... I don't know... if you already know what's coming next, it takes most of the excitement out of it... it wasn't exactly boring, just nothing special at all

Try to get me the pages by the end of the weekend :-)

And just saw your other story in the email account, AD, I'm grabbing them now. We might not need to use them, but it's good to have just in case.

The Norsemen (Vikings) really got around... down into Italy and France and Germany, especially, but there's even some proof that they navigated the Mediterranean sea, trading all along the coast. That's one of the things most don't realize... yes, they were blood-thirsty warriors, especially when invading Great Britain (starting in 789), but they settled down in England and became farmers, and developed trade with all their neighbors. Keep in mind, England at the time was already occupied by foreign people, the Angles and the Saxons had taken over from the Romans earlier, so invading England was pretty common throughout history). And as I mentioned earlier, they discovered America long before Columbus did (around 1000ad), especially the coast of Canada, but perhaps moving inward as far as the Great Lakes (this isn't myth anymore, they've actually found Viking houses now in North America).

Well, depends on how strong the pencils are. Why don't you send it to me, and we'll use it just in case we don't get enough in to fill the book. I think at the rate it's going, we'll carry it over into the weekend for the deadline.

Well, even a 3 or 4 page story would help :-) And AnimeDoodler had another story she dropped, maybe she can re-work that too. I really wanted it to be a wider group of artists, but doesn't look like that will work out.

Yeah, even if it just has 18 pages, I'll send it to the printers, but would be nice to have a bit more than that.

Narutank is fanart, right? The likenesses are too close to Naruto characters, we can't publish it.

I can throw in that one page story I did about mangaraiders
http://prettyheroic.net/mangaraiders-comic-sm.jpg
just convert it to grayscale.

And I have as many pinups as we need... just need to convert them to grayscale. Like this one
http://timwellman.info/survivalist-small.jpg

but my goal was to not be in this book at all...

We're still waiting for Soulriser's stuff. I was holding an old story I'd penciled in reserve, but after cache's story started coming in, I didn't bother inking mine. It would take me several days to get it inked, now.

I thought Cache's story was good, but I'm not going to try to talk anyone into being published :-)

We'll figure out something... even if the book is thin.

Here's a penciled page from Stratigraphy

Yep. I've always loved to write, though. My college degree is creative writing fine arts. I actually wanted to be a poet... but, poetry, at the time I was in college, was going through a very domestic phase... and I didn't feel like writing poetry about lawn sprinklers waking me from a careless sleep, etc... so, I got into short stories. I was very lucky that one of my school's fiction writing professors was a famous sci-fi author, so I learned a lot from her about going beyond your first thoughts and ideas... the good stuff happens when you think outside the lines.

I just found this
http://www.cojak.org/index.php?function=kJapaneseOn_lookup&term=taku

I think you hear it so often because it means so many things. You'd usually hear it as 'tak' though in anime, since the 'u' would be dropped, so you might be hearing it as a longer word or phrase. You're not thinking about 'desu' are you? That means 'it is' or 'is' and is added to the end of a lot of sentences (like someone saying their name, 'Tim, desu')... there again, though, it's pronounced 'des' most of the time.

I just started watching Gegege no Kitaro 2007... mainly because of all the ecchi pics I've been seeing of Nekomusume. Unfortunately, she's not ecchi at all in the anime... but, it was so good I got hooked on it anyway. Hard to find, though... if anyone knows a site that has all of the 2007 series, let me know.

Yep, Kite is a Viking :-) Actually, you guys discovered America a few hundred years before Columbus did.

Yeah, I was always the guy in school raising my hand to ask if it was OK for a paper to be *longer* than 10 pages :-)

Do you mean the huge tsunami of 2004 that killed over 150,000 people in one day? Or the 1998 Papau New Guinea Tsunami?
