i dont know why but i kinda want to pick up the very first anime i ever watched... but then i realised there are episodes i would not be able to handle anymore *coughbyebyebutterfreecough*

Collaboration (Art Exchange) / an artist team?

so i was going to make this about needing help with a cover for a manga im working on (still do) but then it went to this, i keep wanting a team to like, we work on our own stuff, could ask for help, ask for feedback, maybe do collabs... its a nice idea, and best yet it will be run off discord cause skype is a glitchy mess and you can call without disturbing people... or having to ask... only rule is you have to be active if collabing, thats the one thing that kills a collaberated project is the lack of communication...

kinda wish MR had an actual discord server but for people who are down right serious about their projects since the skype group is a train wreck and filled with rabid people

General Discussion / things i use for traditional ink with a weak wallet

(NOTE: not knowledgeable with inking by hand, if the way i clean my nibs are bad, let me destroy my stuff...)


i really REALLY want to do some traditional inking, get the nibs, the ink... crap im out of alcohol...

NOTE: i know it is recommended to use a lighter on your nibs.... i have bought 3 g-pen nibs and destroyed 2 from the lighter trick, so instead i wipe em with alcohol before every use, gives a nice flow and if the nib rusts JUST BUY A NEW ONE you can get some really cheapy chinese ones online, they worked til i burnt them... not telling you to do this, i just personally find it easier cause im too stupid or dissatisfied by the way my pen is flowing so i burn it again and screw them up

now, i recommend getting a manga making kit, you get all your essentials basically, this does cost a bit of money but you can find some under $50 (i have the Bakuman promo beginners kit, i paid i think around $25 for it on amazon)

as for paper.... printer paper... maybe those little art books you find at the dollarstore

COPICS.... screw em, they are too expensive, i got 3 and my end bill was... $30 so no, the way to get a decent amount is to either buy them tol you are 40 to finally have a good amount or get into some contests that have the bundles as prizes, also screw Micheal's they are too expensive and have nothing... atleast the one in my town is like that

now heres the one i would call a really good piece of advice... the poorman's drafting table, now lets say you have no money for one and also no room, get a TV tray, or tv table... you know what i mean, more so the white ones

that fold up, you can change how much of a slant the surface and when your done with it, you can just use it as a table or fold it up and put it in the closet for next time, that is pretty much what i use.... if i did traditionally which i dont, the amount i paid for it... absolutely nothing... someone in my apartment threw it out and i took it home and fixed it, score (but they are cheap none the less)

maybe you can find it useful maybe not, i just wanted to help out

i am not sure if i made a post like this before but hey, someone made a "show off your anime figures collection" thread, but i more so take pride in my manga collection and from that i mostly wonder about people physical manga collections, (i say physical cause i find Ebooks of no value whatsoever) as of now i own 524 manga books and growing, it is a personal collection,i get them used, easier on the wallet, most of my books are either old or "wrecked" when i get them, i do have a goodreads where i archive my books, cause i lost count quite a few times but i am not sure if i can post the link, i would show a pick but i need an updated one

other than that, how is your collection and/or updates to your collection?

not asking how to find it or where to rebuy it, im asking if anyone has had the problem but i'll tell my experience, so i have worked on manga for years... and by worked i mean played around with the idea i will make one some day, but there was this book, i loved it and now.... i havent seen it in 2 years and i know its here somewhere. other than that it is a great book in my opinion it is called ... crap i dont even remember the name, well the cover had manga plastered on it and a sketch of a lady on the back, if i find an image i'll show you but yes, i flip through this book and get really inspired but like i said, havent seen it for 2 years

you know how if you play a playlist while drawing and the worst song comes on and well... kills the mood?... i think my problem is worse... my mom is the mood killer, i will listen to one song for hours but its her that boots me out of my mood and keeps me out until im no longer in the mood imma go to bed instead,

does anyone else have someone endlessly bug you when you are trying to be in your little drawing/writing fantasy land? (before you get art/writers block...again)

in these pages the main character wakes up from a nightmare, mostly caused by those dark thoughts you have at night. he turns off the alarm clock, mentions how he needs to do something about the dreams and the alarm goes off again, scaring the ever loving *censored* out of him (running gag: broken alarm clock)

in this one the second main charatcer wakes up (after noon, mind you) and asks his brother (main 1) if the clock was acting up again, M1 says yes and it'll take him all day to fix it, good thing school doesnt start til next week and Main 2 corrects him and tells him school starts the next day, in which Main 1 turns around and... i dont know what hes says yet but this is just a "cold opening/ prologue"
