Sorry for the late reply yet again, but thanks. XD

I've been busy with school art, personal art, and am starting to get recommended to commission work by previous clients.

Okay... Welp. This is going to be a mess. I have more, but eh... I'll post those later.

Welcome back!

I myself have been a bit radio silent lately due to the workload that comes with the end of the semester. I have one final left to do and then I should be back to posting.

Oh we still have classes and plenty of final projects. Some semesters dead week is worse than finals week. Exams are bothersome, but I’m an art major. Exams are pitifully easy compared to what we do. Take two hours for both the studying and the exam itself and get an A vs work on a project for 18 hours to get a B.

For me, two words. Dead week. (The last week of classes before final exams.)

Hopefully I can be more active once summer break starts.

General Discussion / Re: Questions about coloring
« on: April 01, 2019, 10:21:10 PM »
Having taken a college oil painting class, I know a bit about color.

First off, we were not allowed to bring black paint into the class. Shadows and highlights are never pure black or white. Generally shadows are a both darker and more saturated color than the base color. What color the shadows and highlights are specifically depends on three things; the base color, the color of the light source, and the color of the surrounding surfaces that are reflecting light onto the object.

Stylistically though, these rules can be bent however you want. I see a lot of people using reds and purples as their shadow colors.

Black always makes colors flat.

Hrm, I let the writing slip between concept art and college (and a period of apathy towards my creations). I do have chapter 1 ready to review however. Maybe I can get the ball rolling again. I'll dm you in Discord.

Develop Your Story / Re: Split Personalities ( POLL )

Uh, does this story have anything to do with actual dissociative identity disorder (split personality)? From your summary and story snippet it does not appear so. Please refrain from using disorders without doing research first. I know someone (a family member) with D.I.D. and it is nothing to be associated with simple lifestyle/hobby desires. D.I.D. stems from intense childhood trauma and changes between alters are (normally) involuntary and random (and there's usually more than a single alter).

Alternatively you can go the route of having a secret identity or make it supernatural with actually two souls.

Blaaa... Dropped the ball on posting stuff / being active here so I'm drop a lot here this time. Also thanks everybody. ^^

Beware inconsistent styles and a sketchdump. Been practicing a lot lately.

I think that's the site I've heard a lot of things going on with stolen art. I could be wrong though.

^^ Thank you guys. Refs are your friends in any situation. If you have a good grasp of form it's not terribly hard to draw creatures.

^^; I tend to color before finishing if I'm actively designing the character. Otherwise I refrain since I already know how they'll look with color. Another thing I've taken to is coloring directly after the sketch without any line art until I've satisfied with how the colors lay nest to one another without the distraction of black lines.

This guy for example. Just started on the line art.

Effectively a redraw of:

Oh and here's a finished thing.
