Yeah, hence the "some". Figured it best to point out in case someone is not familiar and thinks all the goofy looking frames were poor animation.

Some of the Naruto animation stuff is smear frames which has a reason. Googling it can probably give you a better explanation than I can.

Also, I feel the genre plays a big part of it something can be sketchy or not. Gritty dark stories can benefit from a sketchy style while say a modern romance probably would be rather off-putting.

I've been reading quite a few webcomics lately that have a rougher style, particularly in the aspect of coloring. That's not to say that they look unfinished, but that so long as there's some level of style consistency (and the plot is interesting) it should be fine to cut some corners.

Heck, I didn't even notice that the line art and shading in the webcomic NeverMore had all sorts of hanging and disconnected areas until looking closely the second time reading, because I was engaged with the plot.

Growing up Gerudo looks like pencil sketches and is grayscale, but the artist's understanding of how light values lead the eye and the character expressions are nicely done.

The Secrets of Soulford has minimal color that looks like watercolor on canvas. And the panel shapes are fluid and only focus on the details you need to see.

Another watercolor like comic with a sketchy style is Stand Still. Stay Silent. Much of the detail is greebling.

Meanwhile there's some comics that the art is stunning however by the time of each update I have to backtrack because I don't remember what happened last.

Anyways, I'm doing alright. Had the flu through the holidays after babysitting my nephew so I was a bit wiped for a while. Got back into the hyperfixation that is Flight Rising after several years and did some fan art.

A few of my favorites

Otherwise same old, same old I guess.

Sorry if this sounds insulting but doesn't having adhd and autism make you stupid. That's what most people think of autism and adhd anyway right.
Uh... yes that comes off as very insulting and I wouldn't repeat that again.

But no, it doesn't. Barring extreme cases, it's only a difference in the way you perceive and interact with the world. Which in the modern world being made for neurotypicals it is hard to fit in. Autistic people actually used to be thought of highly due to their ability to see patterns of reason and logic. Of course, "normal" people thought of them as unhuman because of the behavior differences, but were treated with respect. This is where the legends of changlings came from. A tangent but I'm stopping here.

But anyways this is reaching a point in which you are dragging other people into the mud with you so if you are not looking for actual advice I recommend leaving this conversation here. I don't see the point of trying to answer your questions as to the validity of your, my, my friends, family, and everyone else who deals with these issues if you only try to twist it to fit your own narrative.

When the brain is bored and looking for something to focus on negative thoughts tend to fit the bill (and with the hyperfocus of adhd it can spiral out of control). It takes a conscious effort to recognize the pattern and look for things to replace them. I have adhd and autism so I do speak from experience on this.

Indeed. x_x;

On a somewhat related topic, I have a Discord server for my art and projects and a bitty community. Several MR members are there already so if anybody, whom I'm familiar with, wants to join to hang out or stay in contact with each other in cases where the site is down feel free to DM me for an invite. (No public link atm due to wanting a slow growth of familiar faces for now.)

Vikings' also has a Discord meant for MR that I think most of the regulars are in already, but they've left it unmodded mostly, and it's not as active there.

It does look pretty nice! Kinda looks like some fancy brand at a designer store.

The opposite is true as well. We, the artists, could do a whole months of work and then you could just disappear or suddenly be unable to pay Then we would be losing that same $. It goes both ways. That's why 50% tends to be best in situations like this.

I have prior and current experience working as a comic assistant, and since I have my own projects to work own, the assistant position is what I would probably be interested in. I have done character color flats and shading for the previous assistant work. I use Clip Studio Paint Ex so I can do word bubbles and other things.

I do need to ask if it's negotiable to have at least 50% of the pay up front and have the reimbursement added to the base amount (per every 2-3 pages depending on what's decided) as most artists working digitally already have all the tools and programs they need so it's not much of an incentive otherwise and most artists take payment up front.

Looking pretty nifty. ^^ (And you told me the character so I will refrain from joining in the game. XD)

As for Black and White vs Color, that depends more on the artists.  If they are more comfortable with manga styles then Black and White is fine as there are typically different things being emphasized with manga.  If they prefer more of a Comic style of drawing, then color is preferred.

I ask because there's typically a large difference in the price between the two. Your budget would appear to lean more toward the side of B&W side of things.

Unfortunately I do not have any completed references.  However, I can provide images for reference/jumping off points.

Will the concept art be a paid project in addition to the pages or are they included as part of the page budget?

And another question, do you have prior experience working with artists?

14
A few questions. (may add more)

Can we hear a little a little more about the project?
Are you wanting black and white? Color?
Is there a specific timeframe/deadline for each page?
Do these demos have completed scripts?
Do you have completed character references or is concept art involved?
Are the artists in charge of everything from storyboards to word bubbles?
What method of contact will be used?

I worked with a few artists here several years ago for a brief time, but with MR slowing down, I suspect they, and anyone else who has collaborated, may not see your offer.
