Still on the hunt for a job, and taking a stab at this year's NaNoWriMo. In the meantime, here's the only two inktober pieces that are worth showing off.

Alright, fine. I get the sarcasm and why the money should have better applications, but that's not fun for wishful thinking. I'm never gonna hear the Gene Simmons version of the Bop-Bop without a little help.

OH! And since you've talked about Carly Rae Jepsen before, you might appreciate this video, as well as the enormous (150-ish page) document about the theory behind every one of her songs. Seems like the kind of thing up your alley, maybe? I just like Max Landis, so I'm already reading this Far-too-long document as it is.

I've just finished what's available of "Kumo Desu ga, Nani ka?" It's a fun little story about a girl who gets reincarnated in a fantasy land as one of the basic spider monsters in a giant dungeon. It's a lot of fun to blast through in a single sitting, and a pretty cute twist on the well-trod reincarnation setup. Looks like it's based on a light novel that's way further ahead plot-wise. Love to see where this goes:

Give it a look-see:

Who's gonna start the crowdfunding Campaign so Manimal can meet a member of Kiss? I wanna see that jam session.

On a lighter note, I think I've found the most "Manimal" tweet I've ever seen.

Good luck to all you folks in the midst of finding yourselves. Here's hoping it all works out. In the meatime, I sure can't wait to listen to some more of my favorite musician, Barry Goldman, right now at

I think this serves as a lesson on perspective.

Hoo, boy. Forlorn Serpent, are you gonna be in the path of Harvey? I've seen my fair share of Tornadoes and earthquakes and blizzards, but fortunately haven't ever had to deal with a Hurricane. Stay safe, and stay dry.

Also I've finally decided to drop the color from my font alterations. Hopefully that makes things easier for other raiders.

I appreciate it! And I gotta say, it's strange how comforting it is to see good ol' Times New Roman in this day and age. Now that's a font I can get behind if you know what I mean.

Mother Nature was feeling unappreciated with all this focus on the eclipse, and now we got a lovely layer of clouds during this once-in-a-lifetime solar phenomenon. Nuts.

Go for it! I think just about everybody on this site is in, or has been in a time of self-discovery. If you don't think your current nom de plume is what suits you best, then there's nothing stopping you from reinventing yourself. Fortunately, MR makes the name-changing process incredibly easy. Did you have any particular ideas as to what you wanted to change to?

All I ask is that you keep using the same color of text for a while. Swapping out name, profile pic and signature all at once might be a little jarring, and my memory is crummy enough as it is.

I'd love to be a grenadier in la resistance. Accuracy and stealth be damned. Apologies in advance if I get brainwashed and kill everyone.

Hopefully back to doing this more regularly now that life seems to be leveling out after a few big events.

And shucks, you guys. It is nice to come back to this thread to see all the words of support and encouragement. Yeah, I'll keep trying this pen stuff, but I have still not come to feel warm and fuzzy about that decision. Probably doesn't help that I need to break the habit of drawing WAY too small. Would probably help to think in terms of a bit larger scale. As it is now, I'm trying to squeeze detail into and the ink just ends up looking a bit muddled.

After a bit more practice, I'd love to start getting into VN character portrait designs again. That's what gets the writing juices flowing more than anything.

Top half: practice with hands that all went a a step further with no particular plan
Bottom half: Straight inking is dumb, part deux

Everybody be talking about their big boob, and lewdness, while I'm just twiddling my thumbs until Tsurezure Children appears in the next few days

Woah, hey now. Nothin' lewd about Little Witch Academia, and shame on you for lumping me in with that crowd. Just good clean fun for me, thanks!

Aaaah, jeeze! I've had this topic bookmarked for later since May, and the improvements that have just been made since then are astounding. You've had some tremendous progress. Clothing, perspective, expression, and all that are coming right along. I don't know what else to say that you haven't already been addressing, so I guess just keep up with whatever it is you've been doing? It's clearly working!

Can't go wrong with good old Crayola! Or whatever brand of colored pencils I use that were just borrowed from an old roommate 7 years ago and never returned. Oh, the laughs we had!

But onto a more serious subject: color is stupid and weird. Endless kudos to you for even picking up the pencils and putting the time in. Coloring books are one thing, but trying for texture is a whole 'nother sack of potatoes. Good luck, and keep at it!
