Tips and Tutorials / Re: Tips for drawing hair

Also , your image link is broken .

Strange... I can see it just fine.  :-\

I couldn't see it either, but here's the source for people who want to see it: http://s17.postimg.org/yg9tuz7dq/hair_tutorial.jpg

I disagree with it though, that's not what a hairline is for example :P

Yo, so basically I think it'd be a cool if there was a thread where everyone posted their own little individual art tips and tricks in one thread to help eachother. These are the type of tips that you feel are useful, but don't feel like they're worth their own thread! :)
I'll constantly just update this with my own tips, so here's 2 for now and more will come as i study and make them.

Asymmetry in the Face:

With a Symmetrical face, you are never going to accurately portray emotion or character. Creating hair that has volume and is unevenly spaced out will be more appealing to view. Similarly, this applies ot the nose, eyebrows, mouth and eyes. However, you can get away with keeping the eyes symmetrical if you want.

Emotion is in the Eyebrows:

With emotion, the eyes only tell some of the story, but are often the main focus for people when trying to display emotion. Eyebrows are just as, if not more important than eyes as they frame and contextualize the eyes.

Similarly, you can scrunch up the nose and change the mouth to enhance emotion, but i didn't do that for this tip.

Good work Akane!

I recommend taking a look online for some videos detailing the process for drawing the face though, they will help. (I personally recommend Bluefley/Cubebrush and Sycra)

General Discussion / Re: Did this ever happened to you?

This happens from time to time, it's because you put work into it usually.

In a month or so you'll hate it probably, lol.

Happened with me when i drew this before i later realised it was *censored*.

Top right is indeed the best, but I like top left. Maybe you didn't follow the line of action properly? Still, nice technique there. I want to learn to make interesting characters with shapes like that. Even bottom right person is good.

Man I was hoping those gifs were animated. Nice ones though.

So how many entries have you actually done? 5 or...? Even if you've lost the 20 sketches for the day just put the number down and the list will be updated.

In any case welcome aboard

No, this is my first day with 20 sketches! Sorry for confusion (14 gesture style poses and 6 line arts)

I meant this is usually around what i do per day!

I think the reason the top left one failed was because of the lack of a-symmetry.

Okay so i'm going to start doing this, but i usually do more than 20 sketches every 3 days that i delete, but i thought this would be a cool place to put them down. (It also might stop people thinking that i dont draw bodies).

So was both creating interesting sillhouettes and actually pushing them into a character, so sketch 1 would be the sillhouette and then sketch 2 would be drawing over it to create something. I sketch like this quite often because it's fun, but it's not stuff im usually comfortable uploading:

Large as *censored* file btw, and this is with compression (40 mb), it's 800 mb in photoshop. I thought it'd be faster and easier than uploading them all individually. I was wrong.

Ended up having to cut them up because imgur was being weird with a big file:

Top left one failed of the first one, all of these are meh tho so. Top right is my fav though!

Kinda failed but i tried.gif

The 3d shading one was pretty well done man. Impressive.

So as someone too lazy to read through the pages, is this a themed 20 every 3 days or just 20 sketches every 3 days of whatever you're already doing?

@Fronomenal: Thank you so much!

So, I've been watching Kyoukai no Kanata. Mirai Kuriyama is too dang cute. I had no choice but to draw her.

Her left eye looks a little squished, so I gotta fix that. Then gonna start coloring her soon!

looks lovely Churro, good job! :)
