General Discussion / Re: Quantity vs. Quality

Suuper I think you came thiiiis close to making a certain point about creators. And that is that depending on the situation, the creator's wishes are made irrelevant by other forces. You get famous examples from all forms of creative media. David Bowie made a bunch of bad albums to escape a record contract. Akira Toriyama wanted to end DBZ with Frieza, but Shounen Jump basically forced his hand into making the Cell and Buu sagas. For a similar reason, the big bads all have half a dozens forms because his editor hated how most of them looked. So often times the creators create because they're raked over the coals by corporate entities.

Do you happen to know any details about Toriyama wanting to end it and Shounen Jump making him continue? I'm pretty interested in this.
If you don't know then no problem. I'll dig around and find out. :D

Thank you very much for the tips Suuper-san!
My biggest problem is that perfectionism can make me less daring in my practice. Also it makes me more tunnel-visioned. Don't worry though because I'm already aware of those things so all that is left is to overcome them (and I do some times but not always).

I'm trying to always remember that my main goal is to be a mangaka so mistakes can and will happen. If I'll be able to make good illustrations in the future that will be just a plus.
That's the main thing really: Having a clear mind. :)

I do need to loosen up. I'm working on it!
It's just that some times I try too much to avoid mistakes. I need to be juuuuust a lil bit sloppier. xD

Keep up the good work and, like I said, I might join in later on. I don't like the indefinite (did I say this right?) nature of the thread though. It might be too distracting for me. Oh well. ;D

I'm fine thanks to Jesus Christ. Fighting, learning and trying to improve myself.
I have my ups and downs with practicing but still trying not to let a day pass without practice. The sweat in the summer kinda threw me off, I still haven't learned to deal with it properly. I overused pilots and underused the pen because of it but I'm gonna make up for it! 8) Also trying to get focused better.

I have thought about joinning but even if I'll decide to do so, currently I have a problem with the scanner not being detected by the laptop for whatever reason. Maybe that's for the best though since the silly perfectionist in me just won't let me finish a page from the test manga as I've been wanting to. There's always something. xD I really have to get the ball rolling on that.
Never say never though. We'll see.

That's the spirit! I'm currently learning to do that as well. :D

Just from my personal perspective as a creator though, I would feel kinda hollow and empty if I didn't value quality over quantity. Even if it's all "average Joes" reading my work, I have a personal standard I want to meet, and I don't believe that just because you're an average joe you don't deserve good quality.

I'm late but still, I wanted to give this a thumbs up. Totally agree with you.

I'll probably keep amazon as a backup option then since I ,too, try to back the stores (especially the smaller ones) whenever I can.

Thanks a bunch Coryn!

I'll review my options and take it from there.

Pro stuff here, what can I say. :clapping:

I'm really glad to see somebody else doing traditional art as well.

I feel like a genuine mangaka everytime I use a G pen.

When I use it I feel like a newborn deer, trying to stand on its legs. :D (new to it, still learning/trying to learn)

I never really had a clear idea of amazon so I thought the...physical aspect (how should I call it anyway? :D )of it is in just one country. Now I see.

Yeah. Better start as simple as possible.

I think that's all. Thank you all for your help!

Isn't amazon the same regardless the country?
Glad to know these things! There's a chance that what I read back then was about direct shipping or something instead via amazon. From what you guys say, it seems quite a problem-free service.

It's really nice of you guys. I appreciatte it. ;D

Good to know Suuper-san, I really appreciate it!

I think I somehow managed to confuse everybody here. My apologies.

I just made this thread to celebrate my two years in drawing. There's no need to worry about anything really.
Still, thank you very much!

Sorry for the confusion.

Sorry that I wasn't clear in my OP. I meant safe mostly regarding possible account hijacking or something. I guess, general scamming/frauding/hacking and what not.

@Ryan I live in Greece but still, all info is welcome. Like I said, I'm new to this so anything I learn will be useful  one way or another.

@Suuper-san Yeah, I wasn't clear enough but your post is already what I need.
I happened to read online that, in case of a damaged item, the return can be tricky (not being believed that you recieved it damaged for instance). Wil I have to record on video the unpacking or something? @_@

Thank you very much both of you for your help!
