Killer B Thank you! In digital coloring, needs some methods and getting used to it. I still don't fully understand most if it.

SaiHawkeye yea Its fun. just find the tool that feels right and go for it.

Yea. I made a huge mistake practicing drawing with the tablet only. everyone said to practice traditional first but I didn't listen.
My hand is much more staple steady with a pencil.
Now I want to buy a sketchbook micron ink pens and Copic markers.
I hope the screen tablet is a good mix of digital and traditional

I look around me for ideas/designs and play with it.I used to draw the characters first then think of a story for them

Penance fanart

Trying to understand light and shadow.

Tips and Tutorials / Re: What's Your Process For Environment Concept Art?

If its key location.
Where your story takes place?
Is it in the past or future?
what's the history of the place? Who built it? Is it new or old? Who lives there? Whats it used for?
I think about this things.

I have an idea about where my story takes place and how it looks. Doing some concept sketching, the idea will get clearer.

"what the story needs,"I think it means if chapter one of your story takes place in a dojo, that means your story needs a dojo. You can go from your head and what you want the dojo in your story to be. Or if you want it to be a genuine dojo look up references, do drawing studies, read about dojos.
Have fun with it.

Cool design. I read Dog Days last night, it very interesting. Are you going to be the artist for it?

My tablet stopped working. It's been broken for months. I just come to terms with it. until I buy a new one I'll be using pencils and copy paper. which is fun actually but I need a proper traditional tool for it
Tenma from monster.

Characters design ideas

Digital drawings

Sketch hoping to color later.

I'll try to make something about drawing light and shadow. Nothing deep, just an idea.

I found this, it explains it.
https://artcommissionartists.deviantart.com/journal/Is-a-Commission-for-Commercial-or-Personal-use-558707655
The idea is for Personal you pay normal rate, Commercial you pay the commercial rate.
The artist may own that piece of art he made for you
Its different from artist to artist so always read the terms.

So if pay an artist to draw my character and he uploads it to DeviantArt he owns my character Or just that piece of art?
If I used that character in my manga and made money out of it. Is he going to be knocking on my door?

Serpent mentioned that if you commission an artist to draw your manga character or pages the arts may ask that you pay him every time the art used commercially

Have anyone experienced that?

I've been looking at commission artist, most of them say the price is this if the art for personal use and if it's for commercial use, let's talk privately.
Whats that about?

I like this. Happy to see more of it. Sometimes I feel I'm getting a totally different story from what you intended.

General Discussion / Buying a new drawing tablet
« on: December 09, 2017, 09:09:52 AM »
Got my current tablet in 2012, Still works. the pen taped, buttons don't work. glitch from time to time.
Still can draw with it, but have to deal with its problems.
It's time for an upgrade to display tablet. Been thinking about that for the last 7 months.

But what to get?
The Chinese alternatives like Ugee and Huion that goes from 300 to 900 USD. They just work. get the job done you know. They got small things about them just not up there. But for that price, you are getting more for your money.

IPad Pro is a good option. seen artist do great art with it. for 409 Plus 100 for the Apple Pencil plus drawing apps like Procreate. Now they have CLIP STUDIO PAINT app. Sound good.

The Wacom. The best technology and most expensive. When they work like they sposed to they are excellent. I heard they have a lot of problems. Expensive, bad customer support, bad drivers etc.

I want a Cintiq
The Wacom Cintiq Pro is the latest thing. its 1000 to 1500 USD. That's a lot of money most artists don't have.
Also with the Cintiq Pro, your laptop or PC might not be compatible with it. There is a workaround by using adapters but it's not 100% guarantee that it will work.
That's the biggest issue.

If I get this but it didn't work. I'm gonna be broke with an expensive tablet that doesn't work.

I might just buy alternative or Cintiq HD.
