Okay well my website is for reviewing manga books, series & movies that i read and watch, it also has reviews for the equipment used in creating manga. I read/watch anything that takes my fancy really not just one genre, so the characters can be from anything really, manga books, series or movies. the size is written in a post above.
I want it to be colorful and eye catching. Maybe the characters at one side and the website title(MangaReviews) at the other in a fancy script/font.
Im pretty open to anything else so its up to the artist to come up with what they think looks best.
I could try make something in paint shop pro but as im no good at drawing it would just be images from google and basic fonts that i have on the computer.

Thanks for moving it for me, sorry again for another wrong section post >.<

By something to do with manga i mean it has to contain manga characters, they don't have to be popular or even published, just something someone has made that looks good and they don't mind being a header for my website.

I was wondering if anyone can make me a banner for my new website?
It Must:
Be 960 x 224 pixels in size.
Something simple but effective.
Contain the words MangaReviews.
Have something to do with manga.

Sorry if this is the wrong section couldnt find anywhere else for it,

Which ever banner is chosen the artist will get full recognition on my site.
Thanks, Markus.

Tips and Tutorials / Manga Studio EX 4.0 Tutorial Request.
« on: July 15, 2010, 06:27:59 PM »
Self explanatory title really. I've ordered a Touchscreen PC Tablet so I'm looking to get to know how to use Manga studio's on the PC before it arrives.
Any basic tutorials or extensive ones are great, i don't want links to youtube videos where its just some one drawing on manga studios speed-ed up, i mean like tutorials that tell you how to use each tool and everything.
Thanks, Markus.

Pretty well i think, i've finished writing what is going to happen in the story plus a few key lines of dialog that whilst writing i thought they just had to go in. Now i just need a name for the magical energy source that the angels in my story use to cast their magic, I've been trying to think for 2 days now and so far have absolutely nothing.  :hmm:
I've had my mum and sister proof read over it and they seem to like it, got some feedback of a few things i need to change but really want to get my girlfriend to read over it, shes a little more.... harsh.  :laughing11:
Going to try get some character concepts done today, i know how i want them to look, its just getting it from the brain to the paper  :Embarrassed: admittedly I'm not the best at drawing.

Tips and Tutorials / Re: How To Draw Anime/Manga For Beginners
« on: July 14, 2010, 07:14:28 PM »
Kara Lyn if your in any doubt as to weather or not to read some of his work, i can defiantly recommend it. He is a very good artist. i have drawn along with a few of his youtube videos before and just as a thank you for uploading them so i could learn from them i purchased his book Miki Falls Spring, now im engrossed in the story and cant wait for the next installment(or 3) to get delivered   :D
I've also used the MU tutorials, pretty good place to start learning to draw manga they have a few basic guides for each aspect of drawing.
From there i purchased a book MEGA MANGA- The complete reference to drawing manga by Keith Sparrow. Its broken up into sections. Female figures, Male figures, female faces, male faces, a small section on ears eyes and emotions, female hair, male hair, hands and arms,  legs and feet, male and female clothing, accessories, weapons, animals and vehicles.
So far I've completed the female figures and half of the male figures and have already noticed my art work getting better. the information and drawing is pretty basic but can still be of good use for a beginner at RRP only £9.99 id say its worth it.
As im aware there are some really great how to draw manga books out there, one i noticed costing well over £120, I'm sure it must be a great book but i don't have that kind of money to spend on a book as I'm sure most other people don't but id defiantly recommend getting yourself a good book to learn from... that way you don't have to sit in front of the computer screen all day, and you always have it on a shelf for reference.

Just my 2cents, hope it helps :)

Made a little progress, still trying to find the right places to give all the necessary information but without giving too much away. Also trying to think of a few more interesting things that can happen in the story, have a few ideas but just trying to get a lead up to put them into it.
At the moment I've got the heroes as far as entering the ancient black temple where the blood mage resides, just not sure of what i can have them doing now they are there other than finding and facing the blood mage, although i could have them face him and he flees so they have to go get him again. although he is supposed to be extremely powerful so not sure how i could do it without him becoming a big sissy. As i say i have a few ideas so im sure i'll manage to get it all in =)

Thanks Yoshimi some great advice there. I think that my prologue is pretty good and might make the reader think ooo whats going on here lets read on. Although in the prologue im relying on the artwork to really get the readers attention. chapter one is introducing a few characters and getting a little feel for the world its going to be set in and in chapter to there is going to be a fight scene. Without giving too much away its going to be set in a martial arts type school so won't be a major fight scene just something to keep the pace up and the reader interested.
I'll keep in mind 20 pages per chapter and try and fit the amount of information i have to that size but if its just short or a little over i won't be obsessive over getting it to fit.
The main plot starts to reveal over the first 4 or 5 chapters and in chapter 6 the main plot is fully set, although that doesn't mean the reader will know exactly whats going to happen  ;)
I have just got a few new mangas delivered this morning which I'll start to read later today.

Thanks again for the advice.

Hello, my name is mark and i thought id just introduce my self to the forums. been having a read around a few threads and there seems to be some helpful people here   ;)
Im 22 years old and have just decided to start writing a manga story. I have a thread in the writers section if anybody wants to give me some advice, its more than welcome.
I have only read 1 manga story as im only just getting into it, although i have been drawing for a pretty long time i am only just turning my hand to the style which im already in love with :D The book i read was Miki Falls by Mark Crilley, i've also ordered another 4 or 5 books from amazon so i have some good reading material which i can use to learn a little more about how to set out stories, and good ways to convey whats happening through images.

Thanks for reading and hope a few of you head over to my writing thread.

I seem to have done a spelling mistake that has thrown you a little off track, i ment tome as in a large mystical magic book instead of tomb. my bad.
Ill take into consideration about making it a fantasy world instead of modern day, i was thinking that whilst writing out the basics of the story kinda seemed a bit far fetched to be modern day, hehe.
The blood mage is from a 2000year old cult of mages who wernt happy with the gods and rebelled by worshiping the devil and sacrificing blood for their powers. at the other end of the scale would be angels although they wouldn't directly be fighting the blood mages they would use their powers to inspire champions of light to fight them off and such. The blood mages were all killed other than the most powerful who had to be locked away inside the tome for eternity. it all comes out within the story that there were once 5 of these 'inspired champions' who fought locked him away, all but one had died during the battle and the one survivor was blessed with eternal life by the gods swearing an oath to protect the tome, he took the life of a priest and hide the book in the church, which is where the story opens with the young boy finding it and releasing the blood mage. The angels and inspired champions would get their powers from a place where the spirits of the dead go to which i called the celestial planes, not sure on the names of things yet, i've only jotted things down quickly to get a basic idea ill work out all the details when i have the main part of it done.

prologue:
The story opens on a church, a young boy is awoken from his sleep by a beating noise.
He follows the noise to the basement. The noise is coming from under the floor boards.
He rips them up and peers inside. Its dark, you can only just make out the shape of a large book, theres a slight red glisten on the centre of the front cover.
He opens the leather bound book and starts to read the incantaion.
A bright swirling light comes from the letters on the pages and engulfs the room, it enters his body lifting him from the ground, he screams in agony and then there is silence.
A close up of his face... His eyes are Jet black, he is possessed.

Its just a rough first draft of the story. There would be only pictures of what is happening and words for the beating noise of the book and his 'scream of agony'. I thought if it was short and too the point it might make people want to read on. Let me know your thought. Thanks.
