Well, I ahould've asked what software you use first.

So, what is it? I use Sai. This would also work with Photoshop.

Oh! haha. Yeah, I use photoshop. I use sai to do lineart, and typically photoshop to color (but i vary it up pretty often too)

ok so i tried it in sai and I think I'm starting to understand a bit moret! You must have lowered the opacity of the luminosity and multiply layers, right? wah. It's incredible that the same effects in sai and photoshop are so different..... if you could tell me more about your technique, that'd be great!

oh, i think i sort of get it. You brushed on the hilights yourself, right? Man, I couldn't even tell at first since they seemed so natural. Still not sure how you used a multiply and luminosity layer like that, though orz

Hiiii,

here is what I meant. It did not work great because the original drawing already had shadows and highlights, but you can see it better on the bike.

I only added two layers: one with luminescence for highlights and another with shadows on multiply.

I find that tequnique to be fascinating and it seems to be really useful! im not sure what you mean by " one with luminescence for highlights and another with shadows on multiply" though! I'm not sure how to get that effect. You just copy the picture, paste it onto another layer above it, and change the layer type to luminocity? And do the same with a multiply layer? I can't seem to imitate your method.

personally, I think it definitely has to do more with the layout of the panels then the panels themselves. The number of panels are just a number. What you should focus on is what's inside the panels, and how they interact with the next panels. Six seems like an ok number, but how big are those six panels? Can you see the details of what's happening in the story? Things like that are more important to consider.

Other than the fact that i love your artwork, i would probably complain about the clothes and the size. But it's still better than what i can draw on pc so i'm happy that you're doing it! Thanks!

Could you tell me more about what you think the problem is with the clothes and the size?

If you mean the size of the characters, I drew a height difference because you mentioned that the one character was older, so I wanted to make that apparent and aged him a few years. I imagined that there was a bit of a height difference during that time. If that's a problem, I don't know if I can fix it since it's kinda late into the drawing.

The clothes one the one character aren't shaded yet, haha. Or was there something else about the clothes that you didn't like?
