Members Workshops / Live Google Hangouts Drawing Workshop
« on: January 23, 2018, 10:56:42 PM »
Hey everyone!

I was thinking it would be fun if some of us can get together and draw on stream together. If you're a writer, feel free to come in too! The goal is to spend a bit of time with fellow Raiders each week to actively motivate each other. We will post our works on the forums after each session and continue discussions there.

I'll be posting a link to the Google Hangouts here an hour from now. You don't need to be on cam or even have your mic on. Official start time is 11 PM Central Time (United States).

General Manga writer discussions / Videos on learning how to write
« on: January 23, 2018, 06:16:49 PM »
I've been listening to a few youtube videos on writing in general and figured it would be a good idea to share some of the things I find here. Some of the videos I'll link are pretty long but they give you a great deal of information. You can probably listen to the videos while working on something else and still pick up on a wealth of information.

The first set I'll share is by PlagueOfGripes. His "Let's Gripe about Writing" series is a great look into the process in general.

Feel free to share if anyone else finds useful material to learn from!

It took me 3 hours but my party and I finally killed Nergigante. xD

Manga Art Gallery / Sai's New Gallery
« on: January 07, 2018, 11:33:48 PM »
Since my old gallery is buried and most of the images are broken links now, I'll be starting up a new gallery. I decided not to renew my domain a few months ago and all the files I had stores for years are now gone~ lol

Anyway, here's a drawing of Sachiko from Idolmaster that I'm working on as a request/gift to a friend.

Drawing out the basic shape:

Refining the shape of her head and getting basic color in:

My first attempt at drawing in a LONG time~~ My goal is to be able to produce button and all-over shirts to sell at conventions in a few months. Wish me luck!

Welcome Center / Hello once again, everyone!
« on: January 07, 2018, 09:44:06 PM »
Hello, hello everyone!

I'm a super old member of the forum and found myself getting back into art. At the moment I'm still going through basic exercises. I'm not even close to where I left off so long ago!

I used to practice and post here on Manga Raiders pretty frequently until life got busy. In all of my work I switched over to photography as my creative outlet instead. If you're interested, I have started a small gallery up in the Cosplay section of this forum.

My return to drawing is partially due to my shift of interests at anime conventions. I used to go as a photographer but I'm switching back over to cosplay and possibly joining Artist Alley to sell my art.

Nice to meet you! =D

Although I have yet to show anything for my own cosplay (haven't gotten photos back yet), I am also a photographer. My next cosplay won't be ready until April since it's too cold to go shirtless atm. xD

For now, here's some of my work as a Cosplay Photographer:

Tsikyo as Futaba (Persona 5)

RuriPuri as Ishtar Rin (Fate Grand Order)

Shiro Cosplay as Xiao Mei (Shining Hearts)

Japanese Language / App for Learning Japanese: Duolingo
« on: January 07, 2018, 09:10:37 PM »
Hey everyone! I know this is a topic a lot of people here would be interested in.

Duolingo is a great smartphone app that you can use to learn many language, including Japanese. It has a great system of allowing you to learn the katakana and hiragana and it's convenient enough for you to use anywhere.

I will say success does vary. If you're planning on taking studying Japanese seriously, this is a great asset for learning. Especially once you get to the higher levels. Supplement this with a book that teaches how to read and write and you're well on your way. =)

Once it comes to speech and mannerisms, that's a whole different ballgame. Japanese N-2 and N-1 will be quite the challenge.

Edit: Apparently it's not just for smartphones. You can use it on your computer too!!

It's begun... xD

I will be working and actually be COMPLETING many cosplay projects from here on out so I decided that I'll just make a thread for it. I've been out of the art world for too long. T_T

This one is Shizuo Heiwajima from the series Durarara!! I ordered a costume online but found out it would have been cheaper to just go to Burlington Coat Factory. =|

I was also supposed to make my own cosplay, Karakuri Burst Len, but my sewing machine is dying. =/

A little sample of what I did this weekend. I mostly met up with a lot of friends so not many photos were taken.

The D.gray-man duo was super cute because they were siblings. =)

I saw a commercial for a new game that is kind of like Guitar Hero. The big difference is that you use a real guitar!

It was pretty amazing. Anyone try it out yet? Is it even out? xD

A disturbing event occured in the convention/cosplay community in my region which I thought should be shared with you guys.

We always try to find places where our not-so-normal hobbies or interests can be shared with others. Sometimes we are unaware of what is actually happening to us though.

I simply can't and don't want to explain what happened since the thought of it is horrific.

I've seen quite a few videos that have had me going "WOW WTF!" a lot lately and I thought I would share. xD

I'll space them out to force myself to visit MR more often today. =P

First one is the most epic!

Manga Creations / Imouto GT
« on: September 06, 2011, 02:55:55 AM »
Imouto GT (Grand Tour) is a story I started thinking of after working on another story called Imouto Soul. >.<    I've been watching many shows that have little sisters in them so I thought I might give my hand in it. =) Chapter 0 is meant to be almost like a flashback that opens an anime.

Chapter List: (For Future chapters)
Chapter 1

Chapter 0: Old Scar

Last night I had the same nightmare that I had been having for many years. The nightmares are more of a replay that keeps a terrible memory forever etched into my mind.

Four years ago my sister was participating in an annual racing tournament hosted by the universities in our region. She was representing her university's auto team as the lead driver but her skill went beyond the collegiate circuit. There was big talk about her in the professional and underground circuits as well. People called her the "Phantom Light Princess."

The nightmare is always the same. It was a bright sunny day and the galleries were filled with many spectators. I was sitting in at the third corner of the track with my parents eagerly waiting to see my sister's car pass us by. She had already passed our seats twice and I could feel a connection as I knew she warmly smiled at us with each pass. But the last lap was different. On the third and final lap something happened that would engrave the day into my mind. The cars were approaching the corners as usual with my sister in the lead. But something was different.

I couldn't feel her warm smile as she sped towards our corner. My breath had stopped and my heart beat became loud and slow. I felt my vision and soul being pulled towards my sister. Everything happened so fast yet it seemed like an eternity. On the final lap of the race my sister was rear-ended by another racer and her car flipped several times. The shock I was in made it impossible for tears to leave my eyes. The emergency crews were running out to her vehicle almost in slow motion to put out the fire that had started with her car. A wave of emotion suddenly hit. A strange contrast of warm and freezing cold overtook me as I stared on with flowing tears covering my face in disbelief.

I got a challenge to show what my summer was like on video and for me it was mostly food and cons. I decided to go with mostly cons. xD

Over the next few weeks I will be looking through all of my clips so far and be uploading some CMVs. This one is a beta video which contains clips that will be reused later on.

Tell me what you think. =)

Well, I've been busy with my multiple jobs, working on Guardian Deity, and conventions. xD

Here's a collection of photos I got from Otakon last weekend. I'll leave it to you guys to figure out the series.

I still have to get photos from the other cons up. =_=
