Manga Art Gallery / Darksquirrel's dark gallery
« on: July 23, 2014, 02:33:43 PM »
I have not drawn in literally over 1/2 years, and even back then I didn't do it too much. However, I have recently gotten back into it and have decided to post a few sketches. I figure that constructive criticism will go a long way in improving my skills, so here're three quick drawings.

Sorry, I had to take these with my phone because my printer is refusing to speak to me
Note. I don't draw my female characters that scantily, but I was really just trying to focus on form and stuff.

Develop Your Story / Pseudo Market Research
« on: July 14, 2014, 01:59:54 PM »
Note. I'm not sure whether this thread is in it's rightful place, so if I've put it where I'm not supposed to please move it.
I have been inactive for close to a year now, mainly because I just haven't been drawing or writing very much. However, I have actually been working on a little something recently, and that little something gave birth to this thread. You see, I've began writing a story that will hopefully be slightly more long lived than my last attempt at a narrative (Part of which I posted on the forums, the other part I've kept to myself). Because of my hope for it's longevity, I have decided to make this thread and see how people would feel about the ideas behind the story, before I post the first part.
Alright, the focal character of the story will be the son of the ruler of a vast intergalactic empire.
There will be specific issues the character has to deal with that I don't want to reveal at this point, but I will try my best to make them as original as I can (As in, nothing about him dealing with adolescent stuff and that lot).
The Imperial army's apparel will be loosely based on that of Ancient Rome's, and some of the Empire's more organised enemies will be based on some groups of people who might not be considered civilised by most.
There will be some crazy technological concepts like Space whaling, Space restaurants, Space-based industrial complexes and BLOODY FLOATING SPACE CITIES, THINK CLOUD CITY IN SPACE!

... Ahem, as I was saying.
There will be some violent and blunt parts, but I'm going to try and hammer some philosophical messages into the story, none of which will advocate war or violence.
There will be humorous parts, or at least parts I hope people will find humorous.
So, please just give me some feedback on what I said, feel free to inquire further (I have not actually said that much, in hindsight...), and please, please, please make some suggestions for what you would like to see in the story. Thank you, and I promise I'll try to at least be a little involved in the MR community from now on, and not just go MIA for a year.
EDIT. The basic plot will involve the empire being beset on all sides by its enemies (Much like the last days of Rome), and the son being forced to step up and take charge to save his motherland. He will also have to get involved in the very political side of things, quelling smaller revolts within the empire as well as making sure people do not take sides with the enemy.

Manga & Anime characters / Favourite Manga/Anime animals
« on: April 04, 2013, 05:36:30 PM »
Fairly self explanatory. Saw the topic on favorite vehicles and decided to make this.
For me(plainly because my taste isn't broad at all, and I'm just making a decision on the spot), It's Chopper from One piece.

Aw crap, can someone delete this thread? Didn't know there was one for this.

Develop Your Story / Darksquirrel's old scribblings
« on: March 27, 2013, 05:03:41 PM »Three wandering stripes
Three wandering stripes, in the dead of night
Three stripes is all it took
All it took to make the beast that is named raven
Take it’s ominous flight
All across the gilly glades
From the Great Cetes to the lands of men
Raven planted his seed into the soil
Spreading through the trees
Spreading through the stonework
Over hills and under bridges
Tortured screams and Taunted shrieks
Lined the Cete’s ridges
But even further Raven flew
Into the hearts of man and beast
Along the woods and plains Stripes slew
Providing his kind a gory feast
But last long evil never does
When man grew tired, beast did too
Together they stood against the gray tide
Together Stripes they threw
Back to his Cetes
Off his feet
And they drove him into the tunnels
The deep, dark tunnels from whence he hath not returned
But where he and Raven replanted their seed
Where he and Raven established their own
And though driven back they may be
They prey on the unwary to this day
Those who keep their wits shall not venture near that place
The place named Golgotha
For fear of Brock, Brock the gray
For fear of Brock the Gray, and Raven Black

Manga Writer workshop / Character/Writers pub.
« on: September 23, 2012, 12:30:29 PM »Semi Role Play! Yey! This is a place where you can develop your characters and post short stories about them, as if they are sharing anecdotes with other characters over an Ale, or Mojito if you're into that(or you can cut the role-play and just post stories, but I will label you kill joy). This is almost like your regular workshop, but the "Score" is given by other members on the following factors:
1.General Writing skills(1-10)
2.Background ,fluff etc(1-5)
3. Heroic exploits and character related thingymajjigys(Can't really call it development)(1-5)
4.Legibility(1-3)
Up to a total of 23.
Above 50% would be considered a reasonable score.
Have fun

Music / Beliebers and how to get rid of them.
« on: September 21, 2012, 03:40:19 PM »
Every time i see something bieberish ,i cant resist trolling on it.This usually results in hordes of badly educated teens and cougarish moms sending me disturbing messages ,and Ive had fun with proving them wrong and mocking them ,but has anyone discovered a method to quickly get rid of them forever(One that doesn't involve blocking ,shooting or rabid chipmunks)?
