yeah switching between thin and thick pens can be a comfort issue. I get that between fat tablet pen and normal thin ballpoint :P
Yeah I would have expected the battery life to be over a week to be honest. I didn't think they were that power hungry :/
I got quite a few nibs with my tablet but I'm still on the first one (and I've done a ton of drawing), so it's a low cost to buy more if you ever did use them all up.

for your latest pieces, they all look very good, and the clothing is drawn really well, especially the thinner fabrics like the shirts and stockings/thighhighs .
personally I prefer the hair render in the first piece, but both look fine. If I could do either I would be happy haha

yea, looks like it is power hungry. that or the battery in it is just very low capacity. it is very thin so they probably couldn't fit a larger capacity battery in it. the nibs do take me months to wear one out. but Wacom's still stingy when it comes to nibs. Huion gives 8-10 free nibs on some of their tablets. xD

and thank you! I wasn't all that comfortable with the new style as well. I'll probably keep on experimenting until I can come up with something I'm really happy with.xD

Nice to see you got a new tablet, glad you're enjoying it!

With this point; - functions normally when plugged into a USB hub but doesn't charge properly. needs to be plugged to the motherboard's IO port to charge properly while in use.

I think it sounds more like the USB port you were using doesn't deliver enough power for useage and charging. Sounds like a fault of your PC, rather than the tablet.

Also Wacom nibs dont really wear out that quickly, so i doubt you'll need more than 3. Sucks it doesnt come with a stand for the pen :(

Apple Pencil is way thinner, i wonder how you'd find that :P

thanks! :)

on my usage, they do wear out rather quickly. still lasts me some time, but Wacom could've really been more generous with it. xD I always put paper on the tablet's surface cause I prefer the texture and to avoid scratching the surface. I"m not sure if that is the cause of how quick the nibs wear out on me.

and for the charging, yes, it really might be the hub that's the issue. I wish it was just a driver issue. which reminds me, it recently updated. I'm gonna have a look later if it's charging properly on the hub now.:)

I can't imagine using anything thinner than on this one. it's already very thin for me.xD

might as well share this here.:)

recently acquired this Wacom Intuos (CTL-4100WL) and wanted to share some info and my experience with it so far. maybe it's a pen tablet you're considering.:)
*sorry for the crappy phone shots.xD

PROS:

- easy Bluetooth pairing and turns off after 30 mins idle to preserve battery life.

- pen pressure adjustment is very significant. I have to point this out because the pressure adjustment on my Huion (H640P) is a bit more subtle.

- has 4 express keys and can be set by program. i.e. your express key shortcuts, for example, on Clip Studio, can be different to Photoshop and/or any other program you set.

- screen mapping can be set by program as well. i.e. it can be mapped to a single monitor on Clip Studio Paint, and it can be mapped to dual monitors on Photoshop and/or any other program you set.

- two free software. your choices are: Clip Studio Paint Pro (license valid for 24 months), Corel Painter Essentials 6, and Corel Aftershot 3.

- the tablet is very thin and very small in size so it's very portable.

CONS:

- the wireless battery life is not as good as I was expecting. lasts me a full day's work with more or less 40% life left. it is still good but I was expecting at least two full days of usage.

- functions normally when plugged into a USB hub but doesn't charge properly. needs to be plugged to the motherboard's IO port to charge properly while in use.

- doesn't come with a dongle so you need one if you're using a Desktop PC. its wireless feature is probably designed for laptop users, as laptops normally has built-in Bluetooth and the size of the tablet suggests portability. it is very small. *a little tip, have the bluetooth dongle as close to the tablet as possible when using it wirelessly. otherwise you may experience some lag*

- only comes with 3 extra pen nibs. Wacom could've been more generous with this.

- thin pen and no pen stand. my hand cramped up the first day I used it cause the pen on my previous one was wider. so the grip on the pen here is significantly different for me. but it was easy to adapt and I'm already used to it after a day.xD

funny, thought I commented on the grass hill one but apparently not. I really like the detail you've put into all the grass, but also into the individual flowers of all the different types too.

the beach one has great back lighting, giving her a bit more 3D form than your normal style. also nice sand lighting on the legs, I assume that is.

the detail on the folds of the open shirt one is fantastic and nicely realistic :)

great lighting on the hair as well with the light sources and colour.

thank you! that greenery caused me so much pain.xD the whole process was very experimental. as I used photoshop with it instead of Sai. I wasn't 100% satisfied with it but I learned a lot from it and it's definitely a good point to develop from.:)

thank you for noticing the lighting on her legs. I wasn't sure if it was too subtle. and yes, it's from the sand.:D

thanks so much for the comments! :)

Heck you've gotten extremely much better since I was here last time. Wasn't bad back then but some of the new pictures are really amazing! How do you pick the colours? I'm still having trouble getting skintones right for atmosphere so I'm practicing from photographs mostly. Getting mixed results though.

thanks so much! :)
a little trick I do with photoshop is, after applying the normal base colors I just add an extra layer on top. fill it with the color of the atmosphere I want. for example here I wanted a blue tinge to the whole image, I used a blue-ish gray palette. then set it to multiply. here's the before and after.

I normally apply it as the very top layer at first. so I can change the colors if it needs to be adjusted. maybe change from cool to warm and vise versa. the I merge it with each base color layer, still set to Multiply. so that it's not just a filter on the very top of the image. but most of the time I adjust some parts to match. like on this case when I added the Multiply layer the dark blue parts became too dark and saturated. so I adjusted its brightness and saturation. just to match the whole atmosphere.

it's a little hard to explain.xD feel free to ask any questions.:)

Aha, all this updating myself on the goingson and I finally found a Bowsette!! Good on you, mate. I'm really looking forward to the finished product of that pinup of your OC as well. The lighting experiment was going really well on it.

Dang your monster commissions are really killing it, too. Some things never change, I guess. Despite my sudden disappearance, you're still really on the ball.

hey! how have you been? :)

thanks so much! been experimenting still. trying out new stuff in photoshop recently.:)
