Your artwork reminds me of Ein Lee's style of work. She's a pretty cool artist. *JUST LIKE YOU*.

Anyways. I like that you're experimenting with a lot of different genres in your art. You get more rounded at generating concepts like that. You're quite playful with desiging your characters, that's good too, makes 'em interesting.

Personally I think if you do more gesture drawing, 20 minutes of 1 minute or 2 minute poses a day you'll get good progress in a few months.

MahluaandMilk: Hehehe witch girls are awesome! A lot of room for experimentation when it comes to designing
them. I might just do more of 'em. I used micron pen for the flat blacks since my brush pen ran
out of ink, so the unevenness you see are scratch marks the micron made on my paper :'(...
thank you for pointing that out, I'll get my sh*t together next time lol.

devola : Thank you! Yes. Usually the shoulders are 2 heads width apart for women. I usually draw my characters'
shoulders with 1 or 1.5 head width. Don't know if that's a good decision though. Guess I'll develop my
style as I improve. As for the arms and legs, I think it's a problem with my foreshortening skills. Just
can't seem to pull it off right. Got to experiment with it a little (A LOT) more to get it right. Thank you~!

Killer B: Thank you! Took about a couple hours for the ink piece...the witch girl was done in about 25 to 30
minutes. I get distracted alot though. So I didn't finish these drawings in one sitting...=.=. Please feel
free to say something about my anatomy though I need as much feedback as I can get so that I could
             improve  :D.

fcollot:  Thank you! For my hands I'm decent with static gestures. But for gestures where the hands are more
distorted I just can't get the form right, especially if there's foreshortening

Here's some art btw...Sketch of a Demon spirit...the design is minimal...Probably gonna redesign too...

WalterB: It's not too's just that you got to sort your sh*t out regularly...otherwise it'll consume you and make your life a pain in the ass. Finances are a b*tch....for real.

Anyways, enough's some stuff I did. Hope you guys like it.

Tattoo lady I did for inking practice...need to do contour studies more often.

Witch Apprentice. I'm in the process of making this epic fantasy world to use as a concept generator. It's just a personal project, not really looking to get it published or anything. So here's a character I designed for that world. Probably gonna redesign her to make the character concept more solid.

Have a great weekend, everybody.

« on: January 04, 2018, 07:19:50 AM » it's 2018 huh? 2017 was my first year living as an actual adult, so it was a sh*tshow. Didn't get to draw much. Here's to a better year.

Sorry guys if I didn't reply to your comments it's been like 8 months since I came here...

Here's a pen sketch of Taeyeon. Referenced from Samuel Youn. Check him out. He's a cool artist.

Something I posted earlier last year (I think)...but the photo is no longer visible for whatever reason.

So...that's it for today. Hopefully you guys have had a better 2017 than I did. And good luck with 2018. See ya. ;)

Ayyyyy sup guys it's been a god-damn while since I've been here lol...anyways here's some recent stuff done last week.

Some hand studies (with reference). Hands have always been my weakness and I need to fix it. BADLY. So I'm definitely gonna do more of these.

And here's a character I've designed for a little sandbox world I'm creating in my spare time. Sorry for the bad resolution, went to the shop to get it scanned, the guy saved it in the wrong format and the levels got screwed up  :(

Yeah I'm looking for that video too.

I need to learn those observational skills too. Especially because of the medium of anime and manga people (me) are inspired by how great characters look, but I can't even remember the basic shapes that make up the very same eyes and hair i'd love to be able to draw, let alone the 3d shapes that make up bodies.

You sound kinda depressed about your work. Even the best artists in the world look at their work and see alot of things they need to improve on. Don't worry about it. Keep striving to do better and have fun with your art, it'll come if you keep at it.

Thanks Hasith, it's good to be back. Though personally I think in terms of skill and personal development I still have a long way to go.

Hmmm. I watched that video from Feng Zhu too a few years back. Basically what he was referring to was observational skill. The ability to breakdown what you see and reconstruct it visually on paper.

Usually the first year students of art school go through a module called Drawing1. You're basically drawing flat shapes like squares, circles and lines etc, etc for hours on end. After that they teach you how to draw that shape in 3d form, cubes spheres etc. THEN comes still life, constructing those shapes into objects and such. After that you learn tones and values and it adds on and on and get the point. Art foundation is dry to be honest but it's usually what differentiates between an artist who could only draw one thing from the ones who could build wonders out of basic shapes.

So to sum it up:
Good Observational skill = Good at drawing basic shapes = Good at constructing complex shapes = Amazing Artwork.

I wanted to post a link to the video but It was posted up on Youtube quite a few years back, sorry guys.

They're pretty brilliant. I'm kind of in love with them right now. Probably gonna get more colours next week and keep messing around with them.

Yeah, you're right. I've been having problems with foreshortening. I mean I know when to enlarge and shrink the different body parts but I don't have the ability to bring them out without breaking the form and making it look like a dumpling's been plastered randomly onto the arms or legs. I guess it's something that's only fixable with more practice and observation, which means I'm not practicing enough. Thanks for the critique, I'll work on it!

Anyways I finished up that little sketch this morning and here it is.

You seem to be a person that spends most of his life drawing, I'm kinda jealous of that. Also the level of detail in your art is pretty crazy, love it.

The hand looks flat. Try adding a little rotation to it so it looks more believable. The colours need work too. Other than that I think this is pretty cool. I like the way you used the lines to bring out the design, though the coloured version flattens it out.

Also nice meeting you! Keep on drawing and I'll look forward to more of your work!
