^^ Thank you guys. Refs are your friends in any situation. If you have a good grasp of form it's not terribly hard to draw creatures.

^^; I tend to color before finishing if I'm actively designing the character. Otherwise I refrain since I already know how they'll look with color. Another thing I've taken to is coloring directly after the sketch without any line art until I've satisfied with how the colors lay nest to one another without the distraction of black lines.

This guy for example. Just started on the line art.

Effectively a redraw of:

Oh and here's a finished thing.

Develop Your Story / Grey: Home for Strays (News Update)
« on: January 22, 2019, 08:43:59 AM »
Figured I should give an update over here. I'm back to working on this series in with both concept art and writing. I'm completely rewriting what I have posted here as I've changed how things proceed.

For now I think I've settled on Grey being a light novel with a comic adaption farther in the future (likely after I've graduated in two years and can hire an assistant to help with the art). Tentatively I'm looking at publishing the written version series on Tapas, starting early June (I have a lot of work ahead of me).

Due to potential spoilers and the like I will likely not be publicly posting my writing here anymore. That said, for those who are still willing to review my writing, you are more than welcome to see it through pms or Discord.

Teach me the ways of details. XD My drawings always get the reaction that they have a very "clean" style. (Probably tends to be from my use of a thicker lineart heh.) And your colors look amazing despite saying you don't do them often. *prompts for more color pieces*

So many sketches. Will probably help with designing background characters in the future.

One thing I notice though, is that your head/neck proportions when compared the the body vary a bit extremely. I'm not sure if you were trying different styles, but something to keep in mind with styles is that the more exaggerated the head proportions the smaller the neck tends to be (especially when drawing cute girls).

It's amazing you have the patience to draw out all the muscles. >_>;

Uh, one thing I notice about the bottom panel is that the legs, from the knee down, are a bit small, especially the one closest to the viewer. Remember that things appear larger the closer they are

@Suuper-san Thanks. ^^ And yeah the photo thing came in handy for this one actually. Had to to get the hand to be somewhat decent.

They'll all have ref sheets with important info and items. I'm making progress but it's spread between like 9 images if you don't count the little items.

Hexus and Morgan (Yes, I'm impatient.)

Tapas Banner Mock Up. (I honestly don't know what the Stray's leader looks like yet. The guy in the middle.)

Thanks guys ^^.

Been motivated to do "human" art the past few days as well as work on Grey so I've been diving into concept art and such.

Hexus (Aka that guy that refuses to wear shirts.)

Damn raised arm took me hours to figure out how the muscles would work...

Going to do one of these for each of the main cast of Grey and link them together as a banner. Jasper's up next.

You're the second person to suggest that I zoom in on the characters a bit more, do you mean to make them larger to take up more space?
Yes. You could take the rectangular tool and select an area with it in the proportions of the poster surface to get a feel of how it would look.
