@suuper I getcha. I find it's hard to find that balance between affordable and good-quality. Like, man, one copic marker costs as much as a pack of lower-quality markers...
Didn't always finish before midnight though haha.
Haha to be honest that was me too  But I figured if I did most of the drawing before midnight my effort counted for that day.

Update --

Days 7-12. Drew the same set of characters but with a different theme.

9 Shira-Nowhere to Go

10 Dr. Kirtscher Rain-Where to Look

Oh wow, I just love the shading on your pieces OwO The design of that last drawing rocks. You draw hands so well!

That sketchy style looks quite nice : )

Also like how the figures have a kind of natural feel to them in the curves.

Ooh, I'm always looking for new books to read. I'll give it a look. Thanks, Papis.

And yeah haha I like to be able to read my writing later. Although the explanation for the neatness is when I was younger I had a habit of writing out the alphabet, upper and lower case, everyday before starting my school work. No idea why  :noidea:

Thanks guys C:

No problem, Lego. Here's a sample:

How to do synopsis thingy...
It's a fantasy, set in a mountain village where they believe the top of their mountain is actually a demon that had been sealed there by the mountain's faerie guardian. But in the present, when the village has grown into a town, it's just a tale they tell at their annual festival to attract tourists.

My main character, Jay, is a patroller who doesn't believe in faeries, despite everyone trying to convince him otherwise. When the festival nears again, and the town gets busy, a number of problems occur that test Jay's beliefs....  :-\

I'm working with this really loosely. I have ideas and an ending in mind, and I'm kind of just filling in the gaps as I go along.

Oh yeah, the original setting was supposedly in Japan (because I so badly wanted to use a Yuki Onna) hence the Japanese sounding names in the handwriting. That's all changed now in favour of a more familiar and western setting.  ;) Jin = Jay.

*crawls in* No kidding, trying to split time between art and writing is tough. After inktober I've been laying off on the art to focus on the writing.

I might be aiming for a novel. I just hit the 10,000 word count. In truth, I already had some handwritten pages from 2014 that I was hoping to use as an emergency buffer, but I just added them in and now it's going to be a battle to stay with it.

(Still havin' fun tho. Rallying myself on. ;) )

@Coryn you couldn't mean the ones that show up during sleep paralysis?
*Goes to search it up* Oh gosh that nightmare fuel!!  :(
Haha, thanks though, Coryn. The shadow parts were my favourite to do.

@Suuper Yup. And I can feel the other ones starting to give out too. Thank you! ^^

@Lego Thanks! They took about 1-3 hours to do, as I was usually rushing to complete them before midnight haha.
Yeah, Dave has a normal outfit on purpose. Maybe I should post the story... then it'll make sense  :D

@Mahlua Yeaaaah makes you rush push for time everyday and dem ink supplies can so be expensive, man.
I get what you mean on the shadow design. I was going for a similarity to link them all so I'm glad that came through! Thank you! XD

That sucks to hear midsummer :( Hang in there - good luck to you as well.

I'm "participating" because my writing habits are horrible - I write when I feel like it - which leads to not a lot of writing. So I'm hoping to force myself to get something done during this month. Last year didn't go so well. I was trying to be too perfect in my writing  and it trailed off...

My goal is, to quote one of my favourite lines from Forbidden Kingdom "Don't think, just do" or rather for this situation "Don't overthink, just write". Not to dash a million random words on the page, but just... just do it - jfor goodness' sake just do it

On that note, I'm resuming a story idea I started in 2014  At a slow start but workin' at it.

LATE. I think I might some need some tuning up on the clockwork ha ha... *winds up*
Love how you added a little MR touch to it with the crosses on the shirts - at least that's what it looks like.

@Suuper Thanks! I see what you mean about the feet.
Shiny huh O: I hadn't noticed that. By toning do you mean something like what I did on the boots?

@Mahlua Eyyyy! You were on DA too? Good to see you there : )
Aw thanks! It's heart warming to know my drawings have some sort of impression.

Update --

So, I missed the Inktober thread :( But I'll post the works I did here so you can still see them.
I managed to draw something every day, and one of my black markers finally ran out too.

Here are Days 1-6. Practiced drawing some main/important characters for my story (that I'm way too shy to put on the forum right now and I take a really long time to update, so... )

1 Roun

2 Dave

3 Shira

4 Dr. Kirtscher Rain

5 Eolran

6 Garyn & Sharen

Cool character designs! My favourite is the last one. Dat Hammer
Btw, I noticed their last names are the same. Are they all related?

Mad scientist doesn't count as a monster does it...

Guess I might be a cursed/animate clockwork marionette or something. :hmm:

Love that style Echo, the mix between hatching and cel-shading just works. Also those dark expressions. I even feel like watching Fate Zero now.
Thanks Lego! I'm assuming you're referring to the drawings on the previous page...?
It's funny, because I adore cell shading, but when I do it myself... it feels like something's missing. I can't help but slap the hatching on.  :(

@suuper Thanks! ^^
My dad said something similar about the bottom one TwT "Where are the feet?!"

Middle piece - I see what you mean  Chibis are a bit of a struggle that way too. I was debating between a small simplified hand versus a more proportional one... I wasn't sure how to make it look good and correct at the same time OTL

As for non-connecting hair lines, I actually plug in the gaps with whatever colour I'm using, so that when I bucket paint the rest, it doesn't go spilling out the holes. I used to try to connect all my lines too, but it does give a kinda tight/restrained feeling.

Update -

Another Shira drawing. Done in a sketchbook, in case it seems a little smudged X'3

@Suuper Thanks! ^^
I'd forgotten lemurs existed o_o I guess it'd make more sense size wise for a lemur-frog. Imagine how large it'd be if it was a frog-kangaroo. Terrifying.

@Lego Haha, thanks man XD I'll go get you one when I find which universe it's in.
Illustrating for a book sounds appealing. Wonder where I could start something like that...

I didn't know you did environments - impressive work!
Certainly does look fun to wok on ^^
