I tried this a while ago haha, but the one I made is mostly made up of people's friends who aren't from this website now somehow.

Very nice work, saw his trailer a few weeks ago, you really captured the look well.

Hey man, I'm always down to game. DM me here or on Discord and i'll send my deets. I used to play a LOT of R6 Siege but it's died down a bit recently since a few friends of mine dragged me into playing Dota 2 again.

Hey guys, it's been a while, sorry i disappeared without a trace but i got really caught up in life stuff, you know the same deal as always. Had to relocate for a new job, was feeling quite confused about my art so I took a long hiatus away from drawing.

That's all been sorted now though and I'm back for the time being, I got a lot of commissions lined up for the first which was really neat and keeping me busy on my days off but I'll try to get active here again and post around.

Busy with the new Fire Emblem at the moment (it is amazing btw, I took 4 days off work to play this), but once I'm done with it I'll be posting art again for sure. It's really interesting to me how people constantly disappear from this site but somehow always end up coming back at some point.

Collaboration (Art Exchange) / Re: Art/Writing Exchange!

Hell yeah man, let's keep this draw train going! I'll scope out another one of your characters too then and report back here when I get it done. I really enjoyed interpreting your thumbnails, never really noticed it before but your characters have a lot of shapes in their designs that gives them a lot of personality. Anyway off I go!

Develop Your Story / Re: Back story?
« on: March 28, 2019, 08:40:37 AM »
Generally I think it's better to try and tell any backstory you have through interactions and conflicts between your characters in your main story rather than dedicating chapters to explaining history/background. Remember that lore supplements and enriches a story, lore is not the story itself.

For example, if the world your story is set in is still recovering from a war, rather than having characters reminisce about the past or dedicate an entire chapter to telling the reader what happened, show the aftermath of the war and get creative. Show the reader the destruction left behind by the war, show your characters walking through occupied territory, show the subjugated civilians being resentful (or even grateful) to their invaders to tell the backstory through subtext rather than just dumping it in exposition.

In my opinion, well paced stories tend to focus more on what's currently happening in the story rather than what has already happened. The bottom line is, try and show the backstory through your present story rather than just tell it; get creative and find ways to introduce the back story through interactions, drama, and conflict!

Good luck with your story, hope this helps!

Crazy cool seeing you do something so different from the norm for you! Also yeah, ya beat me to it haha.

I'm not totally sure if I interpreted this right, so I'm sorry if I completely missed the mark! It was a little bit difficult trying to figure out what the character was about due to having fewer details available so I just took the shapes that stuck out the most to me and created a character using those. Mainly focused on the big hat (I think it's a hat?), the position of the arms, the flaps on the hat, and the baggy pants. Sorry if this isn't exactly a sketch of your OC! I still had a blast doing it though!

While I was looking at your drawing, the first thing that came to mind for some reason was steampunk so I went with that.

I actually do have a second idea I wanted to try for this character but I might save that for another time, it could be something closer to your original intent but I need some time to plan it out.

Hell yeah dude, I'll give 124 a shot, and in exchange you can choose one of these to do!

Demon Girl

I'm interested to see any of these, and I'll be doing a sketch! I'll probably get it done in a day or two, good luck man and thanks for humoring me! Can't wait to see the results!

Collaboration (Art Exchange) / Art/Writing Exchange!
« on: March 27, 2019, 05:21:48 PM »
At the moment I'm taking a break from work and I've found myself with a lot of free time, aside from wasting all of it playing video games I figured it'd be a good time to sharpen my art skills and make up for the 3 months or so I missed while I was in crunch time.

I think a more interactive way to improve (and sometimes I just run out of ideas) would be to do an art exchange with other artists here!

So if anyone is interested in doing an art exchange with me (or with anyone else that is interested), feel free to post your info here!

The format of the art exchange will be as such:
- We trade OC's and draw each other's OC's in our own styles
- Give a rough time frame (but please be understanding if someone can't meet the deadline)
- Give a rough idea of the picture you will be attempting (will it be just a character sketch, a full picture, etc...)

You don't have to be a god tier artist or even an artist at all if you want to participate, just try your best and produce some artwork!

Optionally, if you are NOT an artist, there is a way you can participate as well! If you are a writer you can leave your OC to be drawn and in exchange you have to write a story for the OC of an artist that is willing to do an exchange with you.

Anyway, hope this piques some people's interest, just drop your info in a reply to this thread! Over the next few weeks I will be checking this thread periodically, if I don't get any traction here, no worries I am doing this in other discords that I am in and will post results here as I complete them! Have fun, and good luck with your art/stories!

Almost forgot, leave a post here with the artist's/writer's name you want to collab with if you want to participate

Thanks guys, I appreciate it!

For the first picture I wasn't really thinking too hard on the lighting, and yeah the close up can make the lighting flexible, I think their point was that it wasn't clear what was lighting the area though so I figured I could make it more clear.

I appreciate it man, glad that the design looks good! And yeah, I did actually pay a lot of attention to her face. As part of this collaboration thing I'm doing, I wanted this character to contrast to the other artist's more sultry character so I tried to design her to be cuter than what I normally draw.

Jammin on the guitar, I wonder what she might be singing

Friend said the lighting made no sense for the picture above so I tried to make it a bit more correct!

Hopefully I'm not intruding with this, but.. thanks for making these posts. I'm in constant need of music to draw along and your threads have been a great source for that. So once again, thanks for taking the time make these write ups and talk about these musicians, I really appreciate it!

Big girls, big monsters, you've really got this genre down! I also can't get over how good those trees look in the third image, well rendered and well drawn. Keep it up!

Thanks guys!

It was originally a set of 5 but I expanded it to a set of 6 basically because my ideas grew past the original limit haha. As for what it's for, nothing in particular, just stretching my design muscles. I may use the designs for projects later down the road but for now its just for practice.

Thanks! It means a lot that you like my work! As for the whole proportions thing, part of me has been pretty self conscious about my proportions in the past. Nowadays I try to keep it within 6 heads at a standard ratio, I don't measure it too much though and just sort of feel it out during construction. I think it's good that regardless of the weird proportions it still appears OK, I tend not to hear that I draw "noodle" girls anymore nowadays haha. I do want to eventually experiment more with proportions too though, drawing varied and dynamic characters is a strong skill to have.

Not much to update this time, just some quick sketches of an OC I made for an art collaboration as well some personal art challenges! The theme was monster girls.

Her name is Finley Myrin, and she's a Cambion, a half demon half human hybrid. She's supposed to have wings but was born with a defect that forced her parents to remove them. She's often looked down on by her own kind but fits in well with humans as a consequence.

Neat additions! This person and your work is very professional, I'm surprised you aren't signed on to do work for a game or comic/manga company!
