MR Pub / New phone conundrum
« on: September 25, 2017, 02:35:31 AM »
Why is it so hard choosing a new mobile phone at upgrade time!!

I have an xperia xa which isn't the best but makes do (when it's not locking up or crashing on me)

I like the look of the LG stylus 3 as it has a stylus and productivity apps plus a bigger screen for my anime fix and may have some neat little apps to help with my drawing.

But I'm also interested in a few others (xperia xa1, Motorola g5 and galaxy j3)

Anyone have experience with these phones and can put me off them?  Google doesn't give me as in depth reviews as I'd like :(

Right kids

Word of advice for you all so you don't end  up feeling like an absolute idiot;

CHECK YOUR EMAILS! especially after you have applied for something important.

I applied for a job, less stress, bigger company so more benefits, £5,000 pay increase (minimum) and got my application form in with time to spare. The add said interviews week commencing 14th August so checked my emails up until 14th then forgot about it (my app didn't notify me either!)

I had an email on the 15th and 25th inviting me to interview on 4th September. i didn't check my emails again until 8th September (crunchy-roll stuff) and on the off chance i emailed them about it but it has been offered to someone else.

I feel like a right Muppet for not checking my emails in a timely manner and relying on tech to do stuff for me.

went and looked at a house, i was so happy that we would have a place to move to, it is a 3 bedroom it was right by the lake, after seeing it, i declined...

the 3 bedrooms were non existent, it was a main floor and a loft.

the "2 bedrooms" upstairs was one giant loft area and the "3rd bedroom" down stairs on the main floor was a corner of the living room that the previous tenant put his bed, SERIOUSLY, NO WALLS OR ANYTHING IT WAS A *censored*ING CORNER

not just that but a lot of you KNOW about my manga collection and how big the shelf is, the walls in the loft were all peaked, nothing could go against the walls cause they were at an acute angle

so, mom had NO BEDROOM, i had NO PRIVACY because there are NO DOORS separating any of the rooms, there was NO ROOM in the bathroom because the guy had to put a Jacuzzi in there so you had to sit on the toilet sideways, plus no place to hand a shower curtain, the stairs were terrifying cause well, I'm Heavy, and when you are heavy you have a greater fear of things collapsing under you, you had to GO OUTSIDE to do your laundry... cant wait to never do laundry in the winter

so we saw 2 houses, the first one mom did not like, but i found it ok, after seeing this place, we both agree the first place was better BUT we are continuing our search

I know that struggle! our landlord was selling our old house, we had to move as my eldest was about to start at school so we needed to get into a good catchment area or stay in our village. Everything was awful, like black mould growing on walls in most, one next door to a dog kennel with 8 dogs in a 20x10 ft garden, just generally awful.

Keep your head up, you will find something and whilst it might not be perfect (i wanted a garage :( ) it will see you through. even if you move, keep an eye on the property market when your tenancy is going close to ending.

on another note, I LOVE BEING IGNORED AT WORK FOR ASKING A QUESTION!!

its been 4 working days and counting since the two girls in the office (one of them the office manager) started ignoring me after i asked the office manager a question about the state of the work Emails. wouldn't be too bad if the office wasn't 3 full time staff (me and them) the boss and 2 part time staff. her first words after the question, 4 hours later was "I don't appreciate being spoken to that way"

so now, application form in for the same job I'm doing, within a university for £5,000 more than i am on! fingers crossed!

I mean I'm still happy overall with the American GITS movie. I seem to be a minority in that department, although it is worth noting that my opinion should carry some weight, considering how many times I've rewatched the movies and Stand Alone Complex (although I've only seen through ARISE once thus far).

I really liked the live action GITS. was well done i think. To be fair though I'm always left field with films, Everyone hates on the Daredevil film and Green Lantern but i actually enjoyed them!!

That's similar to why I don't have Google Chrome. It literally will not launch on this old hunk of junk laptop, haha.

Edit: just waiting for someone to realize about that one program chillin' there on mine.

I noticed it, it piqued my interest but wasn't going to post until i get home lol. Screen-shoting my  work PC will probably get me fired!

Currently i am on a miniatures painting binge. I play X wing miniatures game and cant stand having the ships all painted the same as everyone elses! (i have about 5 repaints in progress at the moment)

Funny you should mention miniatures paiting. This reminds me so much of the days and money i spend on Warhammer miniatures XD... Lol now that i think about it, i think i litterally could fill our '10-person' large dinning table, with all the paint, tools, my "army" and this over-the-top custom made landscape XD

I remember the days!! I had 5 40k armies at its height (tau, Nids, dark eldar, guard and dark angels) lots of custom models (jump pack captains with wings, hive tyrants with wings and scything talons as legs etc)

I had loads of stuff to model with and a little bit of painting lol.

I was thinking about my life and not having much time (or inclination) to sit down and Draw and it got me to thinking about where my time actually goes!

now i am married with 2 young children and my wife and I both work (i do the normal 9-5, she does 5:30-10 ish most days) so a lot of time is taken up with this.

I've also come to the realization that i go through Phases with my hobbies! and have an fair number of things that peak my interest!

Currently i am on a miniatures painting binge. I play X wing miniatures game and cant stand having the ships all painted the same as everyone elses! (i have about 5 repaints in progress at the moment) i also love Writing (sci-fi mainly but keep loosing my plans etc) love watching Anime, Building Lego, Cycling, Drawing and gaming.

What is your normal method of Procrastinating (he says whilst posting on a forum at work with a large stack of Files on his desk!!)
