@ Coryn Hmm, this is still new to me.  :D

And thanks Kage! This is from a dream I had.

This story starts in a business apartment stationed right beside a dam. A lake on the right, and land on the left. A group of us were supposed to find a 'treasure', that was thought to be in the lake, so they wanted to drain the lake. But that would destroy the entire forest on that side of the dam. So I [somehow] got out of the building to investigate another way.
And then I met Kinoa. The [wolf] in that picture. She was large, like Moro from Princess Mononoke, and hurt as well. She was the guardian of that [floor].
Floor meaning - that whole area there is on the 27th story of a mall.
Im my dreams, Malls are inescapable. They grow around you and with you.

I call it - "Within Alternate Space"

(Yay, I figured it out!)

This is Saurdonil...I suppose he's a mutant giga millipede, influenced partially by the Ohmu from Nausica of the Valley of the Wind, but you can decide that.
Also from a dream:

The warehouse was the only surviving refuge on the wasteland cliff. Heavy fumes of sulfur choked the still atmosphere. I was hiding in the warehouse, but I wanted to see what the [guardian] dealt with today.
His ultamato weapon was the high plasma energy beam shot from his [mouth]. Target: Alien intruders. Typical. But it doesn't take him five second to obliterate them all. Placidly, he watched the white flames lick the blackened corpses, his duty complete.
     For now.

"Guardian Saudonil"

Wow, that first image is amazing. The amount of detail is astounding and it looks and feels so natural. Forgive me if I seem like a layman because I can't draw worth crap so I tend to gawk at others visual artistic talents.

Upon looking at the three new images, I'm impressed even more. I'm going to assume those just jumped out of your imagination and are all original. That makes my mind explode even more. Coupled with your age, it breaks my mind.

I mean, at the age of 15 I was...well, not really doing anything impressive. But you're amazing.

Not many people have seen my work so...

Yes, they're rather natural coming. I have an idea of what I want, but not actually a concrete layout.
Sometimes it's just random ^_^.  Other subjects are from dreams, as said.

Oh, well suddenly, I'm a lot less surprised, but no less impressed. After all, us Asians are always exceptionally good at something (FYI, I'm Cambodian, mixed with Chinese, Laotion, Vietnamese and Thai). For me, it's music. Go figure.

Anyways, keep up the good work!

No, acutally played around with it, messed up wouldn't be accurate.

These are old, but I thought I'd share them anyway.
Top is a Laowat wolf, and bottom is a Noturn wolf.

In relation to my story, there are five different wolf species in the storyworld.
-Noturn wolf is the largest and mainly black. They're intelligent and domesticated, well, enough to understand orders and be ridden. Main creature in the story.

The rest I hardly touch, but they're there:  Er, (not much known about them cause their habitat is beyond the
     main characters jurisdiction, hehe.)
-Laowat wolf lives in the mountains, and are white to blend in with the snowy surroundings.
-Palbrine wolf resides in the forest and in the plains. They're mainly brown.
-Halacon wolf abides in the desert. Sandy colour with golden eyes. The shortest among the species as well.
-Wroyal wolf keeps itself in the lower alps that aren't high enough to be snowcapped. They're gray with blue
     eyes.

Thanks! That means a lot XD. Most of the technical buildings and scenes take most of the day to complete.
Funny though, I just had a dream of Noturn today. He looked way cooler. I think I will try drawing the one in my dream. The dream was really long though, I can't remember much except I got to drive a tractor trailer and went out to buy popcorn but ended up asking for jelly belly beans, hmph. As for where Noturn comes in....Erm, I forgot XD.

Thanks!
Where did I learn again? hehehe
Well, I forget. I didn't take any art classes, but dogs always intruged me so I drew them. Off pictures and imagination. Whenever I saw inconsistencies between the real thing and my drawings, I'd try to copy the real thing.
Gradually, I got better, of course.
Fur for me is just organized scribbles, hehehe. In colouring, I read the fur should smoothly go in a certain direction.

Mainly I look at pictures for reference.

Pen? No, I just use pencil. The picture looks like that cause I sharpen it and expose it more on HP Photosmart Premier program since I scan the pic in with our HP printer.

And sure I can draw a tiger. Do you mean a white tiger? I actually've a project that includes a white tiger, so I might as well start.

Inspiration? These are usually mostly out of my head. Style is my own I guess, since I don't look at pictures of buildings to do these. I view it all as geometrical shapes first. Then detail everything after. It always comes out different from what I visualize it though...

Your drawings are great, I really liked them, specially the cityscapes! I have an unfinished drawing here with a cityscape as a background, but I think I'm still not "ready" to finish it... I guess it's lacking details, because I always focus more on the shapes than on details  :hmm:
But yours are awesome, very detailed! Keep up the good work! ^^

Keep it up!
Title: Re: Echo's Other Art
Post by: Echo_River on September 25, 2013, 10:02:59 PM
Thanks pirate-empress XD

Perspective lines? Well, for that last pic it was simply a horizon. Then I placed a vanishing point (at the centre base of the largest structure). And you just take a ruler and dash multiple lines as it.  Next is the buildings, where any rooftop is flatly horizontal, and edges were mainly straightly vertical (Except for those exceptional rounded ridges or curves) After is erasing unnecessary lines and adding detail - which takes up the most time but is also (in my opinion) the most enjoyable part.

That's that picture.
Your drawing compositions are nice. I have a harder time doing poses, so cityscapes are easier in composition for me.

Done my music exam (what a relief!) which happened to be not as bad as I presumed.
I'm not fond of explanational essays but as a creative writer I ended filling up some space with my own ad lib touch...ehh, not that it'll give me marks ahaha...

@Lego Thanks XD

@Nomena Thank you for your encouragement. Yeah, it's hard to see the benefits of something at the moment especially when it's not your favourite thing to do. But now it's over I kinda appreciate the learning involved.

@No1sey Tokyo censoring haha XD Well, it's not that I'm trying to block out anything. There just isn't anything to see. The world is dying and Quissis is merely standing by as its exsistence fades from his sight. Thanks XD.

 I actually have something to post *amazed at self* It's been so long T_T

I've been reading more manga pages than I can draw... which is unfortunate because I want to be the one drawing those pages sometimes.

Anyhow, my most recent indulgence was in Hero Union BBS (thanks to Lego ^^). I couldn't put it down for the sanity of me, and now I want to become a hero myself lol. Since that ain't gonna happen, I decided to create another world where I can drop my own 'hero' in and put him/her at my mercy mwahaha.

So after thinking, sleeping, and dreaming on it, I had enough motivation to draw this tentative world layout where this 'hero' might have to traverse, named for now, "Ennominado".

Following a 4 elements format again: Upper left are the Wastelands (Wind), centre the Grasslands (Earth), to the right are Mountains and the Water temple (Water, lol, what is it doing up there), and bottom left are... Volcanoes (Fire).

4 dragons act as guardians over these areas, which are on a lower level maintained by 4 sort of rulers: In the Wastelands is a monk, there is a Lady for the Grasslands, a Priest (possibly) in the mountain area, and  a.... wandering swordsman in the hot terrain of the volcano area.

I have not fully developed a story idea yet. Still debating where I shall get this 'hero' from. What I have set for now is that the Fire Dragon one day goes berserk, being possessed by an unknown force. It causes the volcanoes to be more vigorously active than before and the spreading magma as well as the magical imbalance endangers the other areas. The 'hero' appears around the same time.... and then his adventure should begin!! But not until I figure something more concrete... not writing yet... I'll spare your life for a while hero...

Whew, fixed up most of the links that weren't working. Now I can post more weird stuff here

Have some leaves  ;)

"Zerakis Forest"

It's been a while since I've done some scenery. This is one of my concepts for a forest that I'll be putting in my story. I had a lot of fun drawing this - the plants and trees especially. The actual houses in the story won't be so fantasy looking, but still cylindrical.

I love how the windows/design on the house looks like the hanging tear chibi face.
took a while to find what I meant

Looks absolutely awesome! the strong outlining makes all of the different elements pop, and the finer detailing is great in rendering each material, especially the wood and plant textures. Can't wait to see more in the future :P

Your graphite slinging skills almost tempt a man to pick up a pencil Echo haha. Love it.

@Suuper That made me laugh. I've never seen chibi eyes like that before! XD Thanks!

@Lego Haha, thanks XD That's right - become a pupil of the pencil! >:3

@Devola Thank you! ^^ I honestly don't do these that often, and I struggle to include actual people, something I've seen you do well in your drawings.

It looks rather fun. Normally I don't look at good art and think, "That must have been fun to draw". But this is one of the rare exceptions. It makes me want to do an environment piece too.

@Kesashi Thanks! Yes, do try one. It's good practice for drawing different objects as well.

Random creature doodle.

lovely renderings as always, lines and shadows alike.
I might have thought it was more of a lemur-frog but I can see bits of kangaroo if I try.
although its a little thing, I like the grass and the shadow to give a bit of environment. It's little touches like that that make a piece stand out form the crowd.

Niice Kangaroo-Frog... FAAAAT Kangaroo frog. I want to pet it. That looks really good Echo. Go illustrate a storyboook already. Or make concept art for a video game haha. You have top notch pencil slinging skills there. Love its cleanliness

@Suuper Thanks! ^^
I'd forgotten lemurs existed o_o I guess it'd make more sense size wise for a lemur-frog. Imagine how large it'd be if it was a frog-kangaroo. Terrifying.

@Lego Haha, thanks man XD I'll go get you one when I find which universe it's in.
Illustrating for a book sounds appealing. Wonder where I could start something like that...
