Title: [MR Workshop] Novel November Marathon! (Concluded)
Post by: Operative13 on October 28, 2019, 09:46:25 PM
Come one, come all! Novel November is upon us!

(https://imgix.ranker.com/user_node_img/50071/1001400501/original/you_ll-be-signing-up-for-and-quot_voluntary-enslavement-and-quot_-photo-u1?w=650&q=50&fm=pjpg&fit=crop&crop=faces)

In honour of National Novel Writing Month, we're hosting our own version of NaNoWriMo right here at MangaRaiders! Set a goal, and make your very own story come alive in 30 days! The countdown is near, so you better get started!

Every week on Friday at 8:00PM PST, we will be hosting a vote for every Work-In-Progress for the Best Story of the Week, with the vote concluding on Sunday 8:00PM PST. The final vote will be held on December 1st 8:00PM PST and conclude on December 6th 8:00PM PST for the Best Story Forever!*

Novel Length Read Times
10,000 words = a pamphlet or business white paper. Read time = 30-60 minutes.

20,000 words = short eBook or manifesto. The Communist Manifesto is an example of this, at about 18,000 words. Read time = 1-2 hours.

40,000–60,000 words = standard nonfiction book / novella. The Great Gatsby is an example of this. Read time = 3 to 4 hours.

60,000–80,000 words = long nonfiction book / standard-length novel. Most Malcolm Gladwell books fit in this range. Read time = 4 to 6 hours.

80,000 words–100,000 words = very long nonfiction book / long novel. The Four-Hour Work Week falls in this range.

100,000+ words = epic-length novel / academic book / biography. Read time = 6 to 8 hours. The Steve Jobs biography would fit this category.

Hope to see you all here on Friday!

Argh! I'm already working on so much! I'm wondering if I can combine my Black Friday story in a day deal and hitting the 10,000 words goal...  :-\

Good luck to all of you! I'll be sure to keep an eye on what you're working on!

Two days remain until Novel November begins! Have you given thought to what story you want to write?

It matters not, so long as you keep writing! A decent story that's finished is always better than a perfect story that never was!  8) Now is your chance to see it through. Join Now!

Anything goes! The only rule is that you get it done! Be it that one-shot manga you've hold back on, that stack of poems you've kept hidden somewhere, or an old idea you wanna remake, so long as you get a story down, that's all that matters!

Today is the last day! Get your portfolios ready and on Friday, we hit the ground running!

I'm throwing my hat in the ring. I intend to write for at least an hour every single day this month (a feat I've not achieved in an age).

To peer pressure myself into it, I'm going to make a thread to dump each days progress in. I may not update it daily, but will drop each day on a separate post. We shall  see how it goes.

So best of luck everyone. Here's to a (hopefully) successful NaNoWriMo!
