Title: Hence Tenderly Returned [DISCUSSION]
Post by: MahluaandMilk on July 05, 2016, 07:54:41 AM
Now, as I just said in the start of my chapter two, I'll open up a discussion here. Basically, what I'm doing with this story, and a couple of other of my MRverse plans, is that I'm using MRverse as a way of weaving in some of my real life events into fiction. I'm mostly doing this to sort of practice writing fiction, because I used to journal quite frequently. Writing from life comes easily to me, and so kind of twisting my life events and turning them into fiction, I feel, may be a great way for me to transition into writing fiction better. However, I'm kind of weary about it, since it's basically like posting straight up journal entries online. Then again, I suppose some bloggers get popular for doing just that... :noidea:

Anyway, what do you guys think of this little experiment of mine? Approve/disapprove? Why so? So on and so forth.

Also, just to be sure we're all on the same page here: I am absolutely not just simply copying exact from my real-life experiences. I am altering them heavily to fit into MRverse. And, of course, don't worry: a lot of you will be popping up in the story/stories eventually.

I suppose I'll also give a bit of a pretext here.

My original idea actually came from me sitting around thinking: Huh. I was on hiatus from MR for a long time. I wonder if I could write an MRverse inspired story to explain my absence through me being on other parts of the net.

So, that's what you guys can be looking forward to. I'll also toss the idea up in the air and not exactly ask permission so much as try to explain, but the way I have my plot set up for the future stories is to have different threads for different things. Hence Tenderly Returned focuses on my initial time on MR while I was still with my girlfriend at the time, who also was on MR for a short time. I'll put this next bit in spoiler.

Ending of Hence Tenderly Returned
The end of this section will come after Dezzi "fades into becoming a guest spectre", because she became inactive before I did, which then sparks me going on a journey into the net to find myself.

With that in mind, hopefully it makes more sense that after this sort of "arc" is over (which is looking like it might be five or six chapters) for me to start up a new thread to explain the goings-on of my actual hiatus. That thread should turn out to be much longer, given how long my hiatus lasted. All things considered, it might take about three "seasons" worth of material, if you can kind of follow that, and I plan on featuring my other internet friends such as my Skype group (of course, only the ones who give me permission, and some names/appearances may be altered based on their comfort level, and some may not even show up. Ethics, you understand.) and glossing over some of our crazy shenanigans, which will eventually loop me back to MR for a third thread, which is where most of the fun, you-guys-being-involved, real MRverse feel should really kick into high gear.

If you were to combine all three of those planned threads, you will have that Mahlua's Memoirs kind of thing that I mentioned in my Origin Story to Pub-tan. After that, it's kind of up in the air as to whether or not I'll keep writing MRverse stories, seeing as right now I'm also working on yet another Ace Attorney fanfic (for myself this time, rather than the PWKM) which I may or may not post in the FanFiction section once completed.

Mind my ramblings. Discuss away!

I haven't done blogging or journaling, but I have sort of combined rl scenarios with MR stories myself before. Especially for story purposes, using the rl situation does help act as a structure for the story and I find it makes it more engaging. The stories I try to do are mostly exaggerated reenactments of the scenario, for example, the 2013 Great Christmas Spam Attack, although that one isn't a personal one.

So saying, I'm a rather roundabout writer when it comes to more personal writing so that if I did post a story relating more closely to my life I'd try to make it so that you wouldn't know it was a real life scenario unless I mentioned it. (There is one story sort of like that around here somewhere, it's from a while ago it's not quite relevant to the person I am now, but it would kind of serve as a explanation of myself back then.)

I think when it wouldn't be acceptable is if it were an indirect way of debasing or picking a fight with someone instead of dealing with it professionally. I haven't seen that happen yet though (I think).

I certainly don't plan to pick fights with people. I just kinda want to dabble with MRVerse and expand its canon because in MRVerse we are the internet. I think you already understand that reasoning so I'll put a stop on that broken record.

I'm glad someone else serves as a precedent for me in that regard. It's kind of similar here, I think, in that you can't really tell what's real and what isn't. Speaking of, I really should get on the next chapter. Thanks for replying back and reminding me.

Haha, yeah, same here. I wouldn't want to pick a fight in the first place (my title isn't Mild Observer for nothing...). It's great to see the MR Canon being expanded on well. I like how one can use it to express oneself better too, creating an MR persona.

No prob. I've enjoyed reading it so far ^^

Speaking of not starting a fight, I hope nobody tries to take this latest chapter in that direction. I added a postscript for exactly that purpose. I said it there and I'll say it again here. We're not going to discuss that person. I only brought her up because her actions did play a role in
Spoiler
Dezzi deciding to leave MR.

Bluh, I'm starting to really, really see an issue with my pacing. It's kind of all over the place. Then again, it was my bright idea to try to condense a year-long irl relationship into a few months of an MR relationship. But yeah, this lovely little shpeel of mine should only be another chapter or two before I move on to my next MR Story project:

Spoiler
Mahlua's adventures on other parts of the interwebs while on her MR-hiatus!

I'm pretty sure that drastic change in theme and setting is worthy of making a new topic for, anyway... :sure:

Oh man, when you get to writing that story, you should totally get with me. I have a lot of neat ideas for other places on the net. Would be nice to talk some of them over with someone else who's interested in writing about places other than MR

*Punches a wall to feel manly again.

Also the cameo of that character.

Mahlua, I underestimated your knowledge of the MR Canon. You even managed to correctly display the Righteous Science Division, which has no hand in the terrible weather conditions that plague the city.

The puns almost destroyed me hahahaha. I have no words.

I don't know if it's the right word for something so feels-trippy and not-exactly-happy-ending, but it was a good read. Also, it's no problem writing from ze heart. It's where the best writing comes from, after all.

I hate that syndrome where characters in stories can have great dialogue but in real life things just fall to pieces. The disclaimer made me nod in wise understanding and traumatized me a little bit at the same time.

Anyhow, serious props, and that sounds like a great idea!

Spoiler
... Incidentally I do remember Dezzi being around. Sorry it didn't work out

I believe this will be my 666th post.

Sure thing. I had some things in mind in particular given my internet adventures.

As for Lego's comment, I'll reply in order: Wait until you read the last chapter. Incidentally, I included you before I read this discussion thread. I focus on my writing like that.

Not discussing it. Nupe. Uh-uh.

You have Coryn's GoogleDocs guide to thank for that.

Ah, thank you. I'm glad to hear you guys like it. Yeah, real life bites sometimes.

Spoiler
It's totally fine. We're still on speaking terms, and in fact managed to remain pretty solid friends. She's been a better friend to me than my older, known-since-middle-school friends who have all but gone at this point. In fact, I linked her to the story as well. She's been reading it too.

*Punches wall repeatedly

Nuuuu where is the happy ending darnit?

Yeah, pretty much wraps the narrative nicely methinks. Raiders popping in and out as guest spectres may actually be a good explanation too for the raiders who didn't exactly leave-leave but just went on sudden haituses.

Godo stuff Mahlua

The hilarity here is that you assume my life isn't a tragedy.

Yeah, pretty much wraps the narrative nicely methinks. Raiders popping in and out as guest spectres may actually be a good explanation too for the raiders who didn't exactly leave-leave but just went on sudden haituses.

That's what I figured. Like, they way they were described as fuzzy, and incomplete data, it kind of paved the way for "well they're basically kinda like corrupted data, I assume something like MissingNo, but like, what if they could temporary snap back in and function like a raider again for a while?" Of course, it doesn't happen to every one of them, seeing as I doubt a lot of guests have ever been members, but it's a fair explanation for some of the guest traffic.

I read this and wanna thank you for not writing me as stupid as I used to be. I respect you for this and I suppose this is my hello to MR again. Man I really missed this wonderful place. Thanks for giving me a reason to fade back into existence, Lua.

SHE LIIIIIIIIVES!!!

Okay but seriously, welcome back, and I'm glad you enjoyed.

Randomly came across this beauty while lurking for MR Canons to read...

Randomly found myself holding back the feels while reading this...

Randomly starting smashing pop cans against my forehead to feel manly again...

I know this is old and all, and similar opinions have been already been expressed, but I really enjoyed reading this. I was pleasantly surprised that there was an actual romance here on the forum, and I find it kinda cool that you were able to weave it into the canon, feels and all.

But I'm done bothering you for now. I'll be invading more of your old story threads in the coming days so be prepared for a giant Froball rolling on down your way. Until then...

*Hides in the shadows and returns to lurking*

No wait come back--I saw that someone replied to this thread and like, squealed in delight.

But yeah, mostly I introduced her to the forum because she did art sometimes and the community was actually pretty nice for the most part. If you look around my gallery you can actually see where I started to try to turn one of the chapters into a comic (and didn't get past page like, what, five?).

I don't mean to paint "that character" as a bad person, merely that some actions have unintended consequences and all that. Truth be told I kinda miss them.

I wonder if I should try to do the comic thing with it at some point...but honestly I'd want to do Genderbending Conundrums first. That one looks like way too much fun to draw.

Oh wow you saw that I mentioned "That Character"? I thought I was pretty quick with the edit lol. I deleted that bit after realizing you mentioned that you didn't want to discuss it. Didn't want to upset you.

Truth be told, I was once kinda interested in some more subtle romances being played around with in the MR Canon. Nothing serious of course. They would all be Canon related and not based on any real life circumstances. But then I realized that would potentially come off kinda creepish, especially if the two parties didn't approve. So, that idea got killed pretty quick in my head.

Speaking of Genderbending Conundrums, that's next on my list. You got hella MRverse stories written that I need to catch up on. Man, sometimes I wonder if I'll ever catch up on all the stories of the MR Canon, old ones included.

Same. I haven't read Black Pine yet and I have Day of 1,000 Styles open in another tab that I'm still slowly cracking through.

Also, I kinda forgot that I even had the "we're not talking about it" attitude there for a while. Guess my blackrom angst was all over the place still. Gotta love being a teenager.
