Title: Workshop Requests
Post by: Hasith on April 01, 2009, 11:53:56 PM

If you like to Add workshop about a character or something post it here. We see how to do it without putting too many workshops same time. But it won't hurt to have a wish list !

Image width shouldn't be longer than 600. Also Pick images with clear backgrounds for character workshops. Also Too much detailed costumes would make it hard. So find something withing these limits and it will have a go !

@ Co : All those 3 guys are ok but find a image with what I mentioned above. AND Don't post huge images nothing more than 700 px long ( I meant generally in forum )!

Title: Re: Workshop Requests
Post by: Tim Wellman on May 17, 2009, 10:13:36 AM
You know, I'd suggest that instead of having the workshop just be about copying an image, that it be a bit more creative. For example, post an image, then have the workshop be to draw the image, but make the character 10 years older. Or, say, post an image of Yoko from Gurren Laggan and have the workshop be redrawing her wearing another character's outfit, like for example, draw her dressed like Faye from Cowboy Bebop.

Comic/manga art is all about creativity, not just drawing what you see.

Just a suggestion :-)

Here's a request!

Sara Irine from Ragnarok! (This is for the hell I went through drawing Edward.) xD
Title: Re: Workshop Requests
Post by: Hasith on May 19, 2009, 01:06:15 PM
@ Tim Wellman : Hmm an interesting idea but I think it will be too hard for starters here. Many of how do drawing workshops are trying to get their basic errors corrected so This would be way to advance for them. Still I can make a workshop about it so anyone who like to try it can go for it.

@ Saihawkeye : This character looks great but its way too complicated ! Edward Elric and Mecha drawing workshops are peanuts comparing to this. Well sure we ll do it after few more drawing workshops !

What about a workshop dedicated to honing character creativity and creation skills?
Title: Re: Workshop Requests
Post by: SaiHawkeye on May 26, 2009, 11:04:33 PM
Character creation sounds really fun. Like give us a major theme or a background story with basic design concepts and then everyone else design a character with distinguishing features.

Any new suggestion?
Title: Re: Workshop Requests
Post by: Waseef on July 20, 2009, 02:58:23 PM
How about something complicated, huh.

Like Brad here

>> Description: A tall, handsome and somewhat dark and mesterious western samurai...
>> Features: Silver, Long, back-brushed hair with a few strands over the forehead... Blue eyes fixed at something... A scar on his right hand...
>>Wearing: A sleek jacket over t-shirt, folded to make his scar visibe, two swords in his hands in some sort of action stance.

Well that's it, I dare everyone to draw him like I described!

*Edit: Ooops, forgot to give pants, yeah leather pants with boots*

Thnx  8)

hello hasith,
I don't have a specific specific request but I was hoping for more workshops aiming towards the shoujo genre.   :)
I like the simple girl workshops but maybe something more challenging.
Like one involved with people doing their own spin on a shoujo character or theme. examples are like parfait tic, vampire knight, etc.
But it's ok if not. since workshops should be a community involvement and if most members won't get involved then it wouldn't be useful to the forum community.
Title: Re: Workshop Requests
Post by: Robs_ugly_artwork on October 05, 2009, 03:18:58 AM
@ Diana : you know.. you can just start your own workshop topic.. that way you can make the rules yourself.. instead of waiting for Hasith ;)

Rob: Oops, I didn't know. Heheh.    I thought that's why the request were there. double the heheh.
Since I'm a newbie here, I wasn't sure if I could start one.  Ok, I will go ahead and think of a good one.
thanks rob for replying.  :)

Diana: yeah, that's what i thought too when i saw this thread.. but, then I've seen members just start their own threads here.. and yes, please do start a new workshop.. we haven't had a new workshop in awhile.. and it doesn't look like anyone wants to do the evil/fearsome workshop anymore :Embarrassed: lol
Title: Re: Workshop Requests
Post by: Hasith on October 08, 2009, 11:21:28 PM
Rob we have already thought about a bad thing about this open workshop thing letting everyone to make workshops. Because if everyone simplelly start making workshop topics with images they want that goona lower the quality of this board and new members wouldn't bother about it anymore.

This is why we put request section so we can talk about a request and make a good quality workshop. Recently I have noticed This was forgotten So after the migration everyone won't able to make workshops. To keep the quality. First it will need to be requested and then take other members ideas and see if its worth.

But Sarah can make her workshop since its a good idea.
Title: Re: Workshop Requests
Post by: Robs_ugly_artwork on October 09, 2009, 03:52:07 AM
@ Hasith: yes, i totally understand where you are coming from.. and i agree.. i mean i wouldn't want to see this side of the forum be corrupted by new members spamming the board with useless workshop topics ;) .. i only suggested it to her b/c i felt her workshop idea was a good one 8)

oh and BTW.. her name is Diana (EBDP20) .. Sarah is (sadiesue)  lol
Title: Re: Workshop Requests
Post by: Hasith on October 12, 2009, 11:50:24 PM
Yup new or old members it no use just making a workshop without a good reason.I agree with Diana's suggestion because we haven't done anything in that style. I was just saying whoever want a workshop first post it here.

These girls use crazy user names and I get all mix up with their real names too.  :laughing11:

id like see one on backgrounds, cant see one unless im being think, and most drawings have backgrounds.

Backgrounds can be a challenge in my opinion as the colour gets fainter as you get further away, plus u got to get the prospective(<<- is that spelt right?)  right.

Yes We haven't done any drawing workshops with backgrounds. Time to have one. Thanks for the suggetion Mr. Chimp

What do you think about Comic Fight? I found one in my local web board and I think this is interesting. It could be a large workshop, but if it's successful, it will be a great attraction of this site.

summaries of the concept
Everyone have to make and register their character to join CF.  Once registered, they have to put the info and pictures of the character, including introduction comic, which have at least four or more pages telling about how their character join the fight.

Character will be matched by a judge.  The fight will be turn based.  And each turn have its deadline of 7 days to encourage people to draw.  Judging the winner is not based on the character in the story, but on drawing skills.

I had not been around for a week or two, because I was making a character introduction (16 pages long).  I just finished it and posted it on my local CF board.
I was going to post the link here, but while I am typing this, I could not connect to the site. -*-''  It's all Thai language anyway...

Post by: AnimeDoodler on October 13, 2009, 03:34:56 PM
thats not a bad idea though...the character should be kinda of simple for everyone to draw and everyone take s turns like you said , but it'd be easier to have a simple character and villain instead of everyone submitting one >.<

Title: Re: Workshop Requests
Post by: SaiHawkeye on October 24, 2009, 06:09:48 PM
You can use the print screen feature built into VLC media player. Using the print screen button on a PC won't work on a video anyway. The rendering layer isnt't included doing it that way.

Rob you can try these,

command-shift-3    :-   capture screen to file
command-fn-shift-3 :-  capture screen to clipboard

Doodle I think there are number of  Workshop suggestions/requests there. Take a list of them So we can create those workshops.

Post by: [aero] on May 06, 2010, 12:14:13 PM
ok i have a workshop request... i think

possibly one that deals with the many programs used to draw with?

most people use paintshop or photoshop...or ms paint... but i like illustrator and there aren't too manny tuts or guides or whatever that deal with this.

i figured a workshop dealing with program specific techniques would be helpful to a bunch of people cause well... its a large subject

anyways thats my idea, post some yay or nays
Title: Re: Workshop Requests
Post by: AnimeDoodler on May 06, 2010, 12:18:03 PM
I'd "yay", but workshops are more about your technical skill developing, not so much how specific programs work... but to make a TUTORIAL and post it in the tutorial section would be awesome ^^...I however only use photoshop, so thats about as far as my experience goes >_>
Title: Re: Workshop Requests
Post by: [aero] on May 06, 2010, 12:37:05 PM
hmm if workshops focus on technical drawing then... i guess a topic in tutorials would work, make a place so people can post tips n tricks with the program they use, either for others or as they find em

Hello! :D
If you haven't already done it, please please please could you do a workshop on how to draw Bishounen guys?
Bishounen basically means 'pretty and youthful boy'.
Like fruits basket, earl and the fairy, ouran host club and other animes/mangas like that.
If you could, that would be SUPER useful for me! Thanks

P.S: Please don't give me hate for wanting to draw this.  :glare:
